They can survive the five star recruits going to the NBA, what they cannot survive is not playing any fucking games.

One would think a sport so strong to begin with should be able to restart quickly even with a brief pause of activity.

Oh no. How will college basketball survive without a guy they aren't even willing to put in the real G League and instead are putting him on an exhibition team.

Head down to Florida. Beaches are reopening tonight. Don't bring a mask cause there's nothing to worry about.

There probably won't be a college basketball season.

Women's college basketball packs stadiums at some schools. The best women's talent is on par with men's high school basketball, maybe. People will still go to root for their school no matter the level of talent.

The truth will eventually be demonstrated that these kids needed college basketball more than college basketball needed them.

Wait until they have to start paying players above board millions to suit up with endorsement money.

The level of play in college basketball is already pretty bad. If the G League steals half a dozen players from the NCAA, it probably won't knock it down any lower. However, if the G League is going to fill its rosters with $500k guys, it could make a difference.

I'm surprised the G League is even offering that much. The NBA already has a free player development system, why toss that out and start paying for it?

They aren't even on a real team. It's an exhibition team.

This is just the start. You get 500k and NBA will pay for your schooling when you are done. They will expand this at some point.

college players should get paid via ads from their games on television.

This will be just the beginning. 3 of the top 10 draft picks blew off college basketball last season. There is no way that college basketball will be able to financially compete with the Gleague for players.

McDonald All American kids can care less about going to college. Their objective is to become a professional. Who can blame them? They are considered the best players in their class.

The concept is certainly interesting, sort of an NBA National Development Team. American junior hockey has a program like that where the best kids who don't go to major-junior or college play for a Team USA feeder within the league.

Games that don't count for anything.

Figured that this is what they what were trying to do. If they than can sign 35 of the top 50 players high school players every season and place them on 4-5 teams it is going to cripple college basketball.

Gleague attendance really isn't all that bad now considering that they don't get any marketing nor do they have marketable players. Once they start stocking the league with surefire pros and future all stars that will change significantly.

As usual you're wrong and ill informed. The reason that they cannot "put them on GLeague teams" is because 26 of the 30 NBA teams already have Gleague teams as their affiliate. The player would in essence be the property of an NBA team even though he hasn't been drafted yet. At least for a year. That's unethical.

They have to create a separate team(s) comprised of players not affiliated with the NBA

When you add future pros to the mix then it will become a lot more "compelling". GLEAGUE avg attendance is currently between 3-4 thousand. That isn't bad. With future NBA All Stars playing in the league that number will go up tremendously.

Did you not see the goal is to make a separate league for them? That doesn't make the current G League more compelling.

They clearly stated separate "division" not league. When they get going those kids will be playing against the other guys in the Gleague.

Your premise regarding playing on other Gleague teams was also unvalid. There are ethical reasons as to why they cannot play on certain teams.
