It appears the curve has been flattened or at least that it will be very soon. Now the narrative has changed and I'm seeing more "experts" claim that we must remained locked down until there is a vaccine or zero cases exist. I'm not sure exactly how that would work or what would be left after it occurred.

Someone needs to step up and tell the truth that we cannot hide from this virus. And anyone advocating a 18-24 month shutdown of the American economy must be summarily dismissed.

100% agree. Things need to open up by May 1st, little by little. If a Stay at Home extends into May, then all restrictions need to be lifted come May 15th.

And the fact that I can walk into a Home Depot or get on an airplane today, but can't walk a golf course or enter a state park is sofa king stupid.

The socialist liberals want to keep us locked under government control indefinitely. They must be summarily destroyed at all costs.

Bingo

Unfortunately, you have people like our shithead governor that want to keep pushing this narrative of the peak is still 2 weeks away or whatever. The peak has been 2 weeks away for almost a month now. It's gotten old.

But fuck, open stuff up. The people that don't want to go out won't. The only people that won't like it are the asshole busybodies that want to control what everyone else does...and fuck them.

Seems like Dr Oz sort of tried a couple days ago Interview and they want to hang him from a light pole

I drive by two public courses every day and there are always golfers out playing in decent weather. Not many, but a few. Just like the lakefront and a few parks.

Reader, what is the name of the big old church at about 88th, west of South LSD? It's the tallest structure in the area, Just west of that field/park.

Christ JORR,

Who is seriously saying nobody goes out until there's zero cases or a vaccine?

Those are straight up qanon talking points.

I'm sorry but exactly who would you trust? Any federal officials, any non right wing media outlets? Twitter? We know that you are completely contemptuous of all local and state governments.

I'm driving to Crown Point again on Saturday to play. If JB Shithead wants to keep his state closed, I will gladly drive the 40 miles and give my money to Indiana courses. And I'll probably get lunch, gas, and stop to fill up a growler on my way back home-- before I cross back into Illinois.

I think that you may be talking about St. Michael the Archangel on 83rd.

I don't either. I don't really give a shit about what other people do, unless it directly affects me. But I really don't like when busybodies try to tell me I have to conform to their wants. Fuck them.

I'm torn on this. The NBC commercials featuring regular guys like the Shark Tank panel advising everyone to "just stay home" are really convincing.

I honestly don't even know what qanon is.

There are all kinds of doctors and scientists suggesting that we cannot resume normal business until there is a vaccine, including Fauci, Obama's FEMA director and this Gottlieb guy who now has Trump's ear.

If everyone is walking around with masks on and flinching as we pass each other, we may as well stay in our houses. (Except for the people that are providing our food who everyone expects to keep doing it as some kind of public service.)

My wife's hospital (St Joe's in Joliet were they were sending all the Stateville Covid pt) is scheduling surgeries and staff accordingly starting May 4th.

I was texting with my Dr who works in Hammond at an ER and said that the overall volume of Covid pt he sees is "way down" from 2-3 weeks ago, but it seems the people he does see are sicker now. He also says the biggest problem at his hospital is that people who have no symptoms or very mild symptoms are showing up at the ER wanting to get tested. Because "anybody who wants a test can get a test." Also people who have non life threatening and really non emergent issues (suture removal, sprains, back problems, etc) are still coming to the ER rather than calling their primary care Dr or going to an urgent care center.

So it definitely seems like hospitals are not overwhelmed. How many patients does McCormmick place have again? What about the recently closed hospitals that were opened back up in Melrose Park and Blue Island?

Anybody screaming to say inside for weeks on end not working listening too at this point. The "experts" that are saying this have no idea how real life and the economy works.

You link to an Opinion piece that asks the question of the when we should go back?

That is nothing.

Find something with meat. Something from an authority figure demanding we don't go out until there is a vaccine...or zero cases.

You won't find anything but Qanon conspiracy theory.

Toss some Bill Gates is evil in for good measure.

Three seconds on The Google;

Quote:
Dr. Anthony Fauci told ABC News anchor David Muir that when it comes to the U.S. returning to normal after the COVID-19 crisis, "it's going to be different in different parts of the country, depending on a number of factors."

He also said there would likely be "some degree of modification" of behavior for citizens into the summer months.

The Gov of California has also said that he does not think there can be fans in attendance at NFL games six months from now.

Pretty much. If I had a cough that showed little to no improvement for a week or ten days, I would want a test. If I had a cough that improved after a few days (as I did in late March), I would not worry at all. And for the comfort of others, I would wear a mask while at a public business if I had a cough and had to go out.

I would sign up to take a proven antibodies test today if one were available and affordable.

Frank, you think we're going back to the way things were 2 months ago?

We're definitely going to ease back into things. Some things will completely change.

Hell, it would be idiotic to want things to go back to the way they were.

My neighbor is a nurse who's seen COVID patients. She said most of the people she's seen are elderly or "hypochondriacs who come in asking to be tested and we're forced to test them."

I think the soundest advice I've gotten from someone I know is my uncle - an internist - who said to be cautious (wear a mask, etc) because we (meaning doctors) simply don't know anything about this yet.
