There is no apparent successor which almost certainly means a soft coup where military takes control. Country would more resemble a junta than its current singular dictatorship.

Hard to say how that would go. Would the junta be interested in reconciliation with ROK and an eventual reunification? That'd be your first thought, but that would put them in league with the west and be the end of what little sovereignty they have.

The PRC has a very vested interest in their most glaring land frontier with the western powers being the 38th parallel. A reunified Korea means you would have American and Korean land forces on the ground at the Chinese border, a predicament the Chinese do not currently have and would definitely prefer to not face.
