Yes, because the money is too good to pass up.

If you want to know how itchy kids are to get to the NBA all you have to do is chart the number of kids that have "reclassified" for the purpose of moving up a year. They do this so that they can be drafted a year earlier than whatever their draft class happens to be. R.J. Barrett' and Marvin Bagley are 2 that have gone this route in recent years
You know what that also does? It lets them get to college a year earlier. There is a player on Purdue coming in next year that reclassified too. He is projected to redshirt next year. Did he do it to get to the NBA faster too?

Kids that are no doubt pros are doing their best to blow off college these days.
With millions of dollars on the line then yes the ultimate goal is to get that.

Don't fake the funk on a nasty dunk. You're one of the "no one cares about the NBA" guys too. You say it all the time.
I do?

I say the NFL is far more popular because that's true. The NBA is pretty popular also.

Nah you are literally a "no one cares guy" Again that's fine just own it.

Back to this. One of the things you continuously overlook is marketing. The interest in the Gleague will ramp up once they are provided with players that they can market. That always makes a difference. These kids will be marketed as the future stars of the NBA. This will force more people to take interest.

They still have to play more than exhibitions against above average college players for it to matter. Is America going to get really excited to watch Isiah Todd play an exhibition game against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants?

As I've said all along with regards to the G League, if I want to watch professional basketball, why would I not simply watch the NBA rather than a bunch of guys who are fighting to be anywhere near as good as the last man in the rotation on the worst team in the league? That's why I'm saying this is the NBA trying to phase out the current G League and instead basically have a league comprised of a few teams containing the best 30 to 40 players who aren't yet eligible for the NBA draft. It's certainly a better plan but ultimately why would any average fan care when they could watch the best players in the world play rather than a guy they hope is the best player in the world 5 years later?

You don't care for the NBA anyway so you aren't going to watch regardless. However real fans will. Most people that like NBA basketball are going to tune in to see the Next Lebron or Kobe play basketball. It doesn't matter where they get the chance. If for no other reason than to see what all of the fuss is about.

If you get a chance to see the other top players in that particular class all the better. Its why attendance at the NBA summer league has taken off in recent years.

Players are going to compete because they are jockeying for draft position. The scouts will see the top guys match up against one another much more regularly too. This helps with the evaluation of them. Playing against men does too. Plus they will be scouted for an entire year as opposed to a few games
It makes a huge difference

I'll predict this exhibition team gets pretty bad ratings.

And I predict that there will be even more players siphoned off now that Green and Todd have paved the way.

Have a few that will sign before the start of next season and they are already working on the 2021 class.

As Todd said. "It was a no brainer" Yep

I hope so. Let Duke and Kansas have to stay great without them.

[What steps are being taken to prevent this sort of thing? Remember, the NCAA actually kicked out Wiseman.

Wrong!

Wiseman, who has missed the past seven games due to a 12-game suspension stemming from an NCAA investigation and was set to return at South Florida on Jan. 12, announced on Instagram on Thursday that he will leave the program, hire an agent and prepare for the 2020 NBA draft.

It’s difficult to see this move as anything other than a blow to the NCAA. Prospects have circumvented the college system in recent years—LaMelo Ball and RJ Hampton opted for the NBL, based in Australia and New Zealand; Anfernee Simons trained at IMG Academy in the lead-up to the draft as opposed to playing for a college blue blood. But this is a minor-league experiment with the full backing of the NBA. Making overseas-level money while maintaining a domestic presence is something the NCAA, as one college assistant coach put it, “can’t compete with.”

“This has massive implications, and once the first domino goes, it will be easier for the rest to go too,” the college assistant coach told me. They also pointed out that this might make NCAA coaches hesitant to deploy full resources when recruiting players who might be interested in this program. “It is definitely sending a message to the NCAA as a whole.”

 He was ruled ineligible and never played again. Classify that as his choice if you want.

Now you're moving the goalposts.

Exactly. It's a big problem for the programs like Duke and Kansas.

Another kid chooses the Gleague over the NCAA.
