I'm far more interested in what Jason Bernstein ate for lunch than I am about Mully's brother living in England.

So I assume that upon completion of this newest score search that Ten Foot Midget can be officially fired?

Why fire him?

He's a valuable commodity. Who else would spend every free second watching sports and commenting on it with a hashtag of the Score?

He's the SCORE's Clipper Daryl

I guess they could always just stop paying him. What is he going to do? He needs those articles to impress Bernstein. That's worth more than any amount of money to him.

Are we sure they do pay him? I don't know why they would. You could probably get Maddux Boy to suck off danny for free.

He gets paid more than 99% of the bloggers in the world which is nice.

Ten Foot Midget, when you are at parties and people ask you what do you do, do you tell them you are a professional blogger?

as i've said before, if i don't win this thing there is obviously a conspiracy against me. i was told that i was like a shining beacon of hope compared to the rank and file at the first one.... and this really isn't coming from a place of ego.... i know sports, i'm personable, and i've studied radio academically over the last ~6 years (once i got a sirius satellite radio and could listen to old stern along with that first year where he cared)

oh yeah and i've listened to the score for like ~2+ hours a day on average since the late 90s, and before that whenever my dad was driving around in the car. WHO DO DO YOU WANNA GET WITH THE SINGAPORE CANE LIGHT 'EM UP?!?!?!

He's south side irish. He tells them he plays bagpipe in a pipe and drum band.

So I guess this is down to the top ten. I heard Leery talk about this on Wednesday, and how a lot of the finalists were erstwhile Score interns. This sort of disappointed me.

1) Shouldn't interning in and of itself be a foot in the door to working at the station?

2) Shouldn't an all-encompassing talent search set out to find the sort of people who didn't get to pull down sweet internships in downtown Chicago?

I mean, one of the finalists is Qamar Zaman, whom some of you may remember as the voice of the Lake County Fielders, the guy who cut a promo on the team for not paying its employees/players and quit on the air. All due respect for his talent and getting out of that goatfuck while he could, but shouldn't he be in the position to just apply for a job? Shouldn't there be some "you can't have done this professionally already" rule in this so it's not just tried-and-true demo reels played out at a Buffalo Wild Wings? (Then again, if you never got paid for doing your job...)

I agree.

It should be for people who haven't had an opportunity.

But that is the Score. The "Voice of the Fan".

I'd love to have seen them interview Johnny Pizza.

- What makes you think you can work at the Score?

- I worked at the Score.

Why stop there? Why not just have an existing employee win it? Congratulations, Laurence Holmes! You're the winner of the PepsiMax Score Search Presented By Buffalo Wild Wings. Way to go, Mayor Daley.

If they did it that way, I could see it getting ugly. Like, Score-softball-game ugly. Goff would have to physically restrain Leery from slugging Joe Ostrowski.

does the score archive all of their shows for "podcasts" yet? i'd love to go back and hear this now... but hey, like murph always told me while i was growing up "miss a little miss a lot"

incidentally, i loathe the term podcast cuz it's apple trying to do its best band-aid impersonation (you don't call them adhesive bandages) to make the term "mp3" mean something inherently apple in the realm of radio show mp3 archives.

i fucking hate apple. someday i wanna throw a rave in a burned out / abandoned apple store.

oh yeah and they picked a guy who's kind of boring on twitter but hey he talks really nice and presentable and prolly looks up to everyone there like superheroes so he'll get some d-list honeys tossed his way @ the club if he ever gets to have a night on the town with chicago's VIP and overall #14 player, DAS GOLF!

who's the asshole running this station. If he started the station in '91 or whenever the fuck it was, it would have been off the air in six months. Get a fucking clue: hire somebody who doesn't sound like everyone else.

Yes, it went McDoink, Maya Gavin, ramblin' shithead, Steven Berger. It's the Dutch-elm-diseased branch of the Bernstein tree.
