First let me say that I would have preferred they select a guy who would help them immediately. However, there were a number of "experts" who had Love as a 1st rounder and in some cases a much higher pick than where the Packers selected him. It appears that he wouldn't have been available much beyond the 1st round had they passed and if - big if - that is who Gut truly views as heir apparent then it may have been justifiable.

I wanted an ILB or the Baun kid from Wisco. But I'm just a dumb fan. Not a GM who is looking at next season, 3 seasons and 5 seasons from now.

I’ll post my first reaction here. I really like the Dillon pick. He could be something.

Eddie Lacy?

He was a good RB for a few years but I don’t think this kid looks as fat as he did. He’s got an intriguing size/speed combo.

He's also carried it 300/year the past 3 years. That would be a little concerning.

Sure, long term. But I think he’s fine on a rookie contract and I don’t like the idea of paying RBs after that so that’s fine with me.

I like it. It might be a terrible pick but give me this. Last night felt like a gut punch

Sure. I love a big bulldozer of a RB more than the next guy.

Sounds like he's got a touch of elusiveness. Use him in a tandem and get him goal-line touches and about 12-15 overall touches a game and you probably could get some real productivity from him.

That’s what I’m envisioning.

Depending on how good Love turns out we might have a decent offense.

Delusional take. Your QB is still decent, carried dogshit WRs (even with Adams missing time) and a mediocre D the the NFC championship, and instead of capitalizing you guys draft for 2023 and basically throw 2020 away. I'm guessing the last guy your GM sought advice from was Ryan Pace.

Dillon carried that bc offense for the better part of two yearS. They were nothing when he went down. I think he’ll give you a reason not to pay jones.

I’ll take that. As I’ve said, my expectations were lowered significantly after last night.

If this TE can block I’m ok with it. Jace can’t. And we’re gonna miss Bulaga

He can block. He is also 6 fucking 2. Gute is definitely blowing up MM's offense. He and Jace can be on the field together plenty. 2 totally different players.

That’s fine I guess. I’m lukewarm on it. Not upset.

Hated the Love move, liked the Dillon move, fine with this TE move. Could have been a better start to the draft but I’m just a dumb fan who doesn’t know shit. If Love ends up great this is one of the most important drafts in GB history

Have you watched him? He's unusual for a player his size. He's very deliberate hitting the hole and he doesn't run people over. I was expecting more of a Henry or Bettis.

I’ve definitely liked what I’ve seen and I like his size profile but of course it’s easier to find good highlights than bad ones on these guys.

America was right. Of course I was always going to talk myself into the Love pick.

Revised grades:

Love B-
AJ Dillon: A
3rd round TE: C

I really do like the Dillon pick. Loved the Lacy pick too tho. Love old school RBs. When I get too high or low on any of these I always remember who the fuck knows is the only real correct response to any of this.

And I'm talking myself into the Kmet pick.

This is what being a fan is about. Wild emotional swings. Any sports fan who cant stay noided is no sports fan.

Dillon looks like a football player. I just didn't understand the pick going into next year and other needs. But it is another pick that might make more sense if they are picking thinking next year is a bust.

I have went thru my own cycle of emotions with the Love pick. My initial reaction is hahahah that is crazy. Then it is Oh fuck the Packers went from Favre to Rodgers and now they are going to go from Rodgers to Love while the Bears are still running the clown car. Then it is who really knows, but however it goes it will be interesting to watch the Rodgers show on and off the field.

My immediate non fan reaction, and I think I said this here, was the Bears did well tonight. I think it would be greedy/unrealistic to ask for better

I agree for the most part. I have been high on Kmet and I think he has potential to be really good. Johnson could be great, but man those shoulder surgeries are concerning. It would have still been nice to get a tackle and a WR in such deep classes, but maybe they can luck into a couple decent ones in their picks tomorrow.

The Love pick was fucking terrible but you've got no choice but to roll with it. There's really no justification for it at all. Had the Packers not drafted him there I'm not sure how much further he would've fallen. Eason has a better arm than Love and he hasn't even been picked yet.
