I can't stop re-watching the video of Krause dancing....it's just too good.

I'm looking forward to binge watching this whole thing. If anything, just to re-visit the first 3 championships. I watched a lot of it, but only the last 3-peat really stays in my memory.

The one thing I have realized through this is I don’t think I have ever gone back and watched the Seattle series. I’ve watched all other 5 but the Seattle one just never strikes my memory. I think it was too much of a given that year and there wasn’t enough drama. I will always go back and watch Bobby Hansen’s shot and 17 pt rally. The Suns series is just so good. Both Utah series were great.

One thing they said in episode 4, was that the eastern conference was a cake walk.... um what? The Pacers were the closet to dethroning the Bulls as anyone ever.

I am not sure why as I was not some sort of huge Krause fan back in the day but that video now makes me sad. What I see is a man that after getting to the top of his life's work is genuinely about as happy as you can be. For a moment in time anyway. The stuff behind the back and to come later must have made him feel bad until he died.

Having said that, the best thing he did (besides getting Pippen and Rodman) was not giving in to MJ when Jordan in the late 80s wanted him to get pure scorers. I think Jordan wanted to get Walter Davis or some other scorer who couldn't or wouldn't play defense. The Bulls brain trust (which was considerable by Collins's last year) balked at that, which was the right decision and which took guts. Telling MJ no . . . you don't understand where we are trying to take this took real balls.

I get it. I lived through it. Just feeling empathetic for the man from a human point of view.

Mark Aguirre was such a whiner, literally everywhere he went. Dallas, Detroit and most hilariously, the Clippers.

But I liked that Pistons team, they were the old guys over at the Y who everybody hated to play. You can criticize Laimbeer, but the guy had the athletic ability of a twig and yet he made himself into a little jumpshoot johnny. In fact, when the Bulls had their 3-4 headed monster at center, it was similar to Bill. Longley, Wennington, et al were designated foulers who could hit a free throw line extended jumper. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I'll say it again, the Bulls were completely out of steam after that last championship. Had they stayed together, they might have one another, but only because the next season was shortened due to the strike. They wouldn't have collectively lasted another full season and been highly competitive. It was chewing gum and baling wire at the end.

I completely agree, Mike. Krause lived his life and made his bed.
Still....he was a human being. Life doesn't have to be that adversarial. He was hugely successful, yet despised by many. Perhaps he could care less, but I find that incredibly sad. Life's too short.

Oh, I definitely agree. When he actually speaks its not really more interesting than what Scottie has to say and nowhere close to compelling as Jordan's casual savagery. Even Horace is more interesting.

No doubt but they were specifically talking about the 98 season. That Indiana series was a nail biter.

For me that always took away from it all. It wasn't their fault but the Eastern Conf of the 90's was a shitshow. The teams that would have given them the greatest run, Cavs/ Magic, disbanded too soon and were derailed by injuries.

Knicks and Pacers were sort of 2nd rate in comparison.

Krause let his Hubris get to him. He did not handle things well. His insecurities sunk him. He lorded over the team that he was the reason they were so great because he put them together, which is very true, but he also was only a piece as were the rest. He was the most replaceable piece too not saying he was easily replaced but that is a fact. Post Mortem I feel bad for his family for sure.

Jerry Reinsdorf has lived the same. He's his own worst enemy. He will die loved by his family, loved by the limited friends in his circle, and wealthier that any of us can imagine. As a public figure, most look at him as an ass. Reinsdorf ownership has successful moments but I believe there was potential for greater success that was wasted by ego and stubbornness. I'm sure Jerry Reinsdorf gives zero fucks about his public image....but his legacy should be greater than it it.....entirely self-inflicted. Sad.
