It's going to suck ass this year. If the tree hugging hippies want to extoll how great it is being together and having health have at it but you aren't going to get much from this thread, so go away!

Make it special. It doesn't have to be expensive but it should be meaningful. Knock Knock What I Love about Mom Fill in the Love Book Fill-in-the-Blank Gift Journal is cute for almost any age. If she is stressed relieve it. If she likes spa crap set up a home spa scenario. Think about it and do something nice.

My standard Father’s Day gift seems to be a trip to see my father in law. Yeaaaah me.

Totally agreed. Didn’t Spaulding just get a puppy? Is there any way to please that woman?

 You cannot ever please a woman. She is probably already unhappy with the puppy.

A ring with the little guy's birthstone ordered. Next weekend its steaks and a bottle of Kendall Jackson on Sunday, an a surprise picnic on Saturday.

I love my puppy but people don't like that I'm not fully responsible for the puppy. This is really my husband's and daughter's dog...that they want me to take care of but they are taking care of. I love him. He's funny.

I'm pretty easy to please as long as I'm doing what I want. :P

That's some Klingon sounding shit ... I hope you at least plan to smooth out the outer peel first.

You are the one who had to have it. Sounds to me like they are justified in expecting you to take care of it.

I'm not. I wanted one as long as others would help this time. They are helping and they don't love it.

 That is not what you told us when this discussion started. You wanted a dog no matter what and were not going to be satisfied without one. You kind of made your bed on this one...

Father's Day is ok since my dad is dead and my kids don't do anything for me anyway. Mother's Day is the worst day of the year BY FAR.

Mother's day is fine...my wife is happy because it's all her this year due to this police state bullshit, and she already told me what she wants...if the weather doesn't suck, I'm going to wind up with the kids outside for like 6 hours so she has some peace and quiet in the house...which means she'll just dick around on her phone or read a book...or she'll come outside to see what we are doing, spend the whole time out there playing with the kids, etc...then bitch that she wants peace and quiet.

one of the few silver linings of the Virus is that we might get to skip this nonsense Hallmark holiday. This one is just as dumb as Valentine's day.

I look at these days different now that I have a kid. I don't think there is anything wrong with each parent getting a day to do and eat whatever they want just because.

You need more years of in-laws to fuck all of this up for you

We've had that and some issues with my Mom as well. Again now that we are parents, we do what we want and if somebody doesn't like it, screw 'em.

You are wise.

My mother ruined holidays for me years ago. Any holiday....(legit or Hallmark) I'd be happy if it was just the Mrs. and I.

My dad has excelled at ruining holidays for years. He fucked up both of my kids' first Christmases. My mom has never been in the picture, so as far as I was concerned, Mother's Day was just a day...I'd get a card and flowers or something for my aunt and grandma because they raised me like I was their own, but I've never done much beyond that...I've tried really hard since the girls were born, but the mindset is a struggle.

Man, I am so thankful that I haven't had to experience any of the issues you guys talk about.

Its the thought most of the time that counts, Boyd. Have the girls make a card. Get the Mrs favorite wine or cocktail. Surprise her and grill one of her favorites on Saturday evening.

Try doing something your wife likes this year and then report back.

You've met my wife...

Yeah, I'm working on some craft thing for the girls to do...fucking daycare and lockdown forced my hand...she's more annoyed with this shit getting extended further because she wanted to get a babysitter for the kids and have us go to brunch.
