I'd be good with banning HFCS.

Its an oddly political reason HFCS is more common than regular sugar.

100%. Sugar price supports to protect beat farmers is the reason industry moved to hfcs’. Generally the price of sugar is double in the U.S. as to the rest of the world. Very poor ag policy is to blame.

Interesting podcast interview with Michele Flournoy, who will be the Secretary of Defense if Biden win on the potential of a Cold War or more against China.

Once again, I'm not saying this was a purposeful attack with a biological weapon (though the fact they stop traveled from Wuhan to anywhere else in China while allowing international travel to continue means it may as well have been). But the United States has attempted to change many regimes around the world, sometimes more successfully than others. If another country wanted to change a U.S. regime, what might such a thing look like?

Oh they've violated every rule in the books. Seriously, even the Nazis and Soviets refrained from the types of behaviour that China regularly engages in.

But it gets a few people rich for us to trade with them so everyone has just ruled out an adversarial relationship.

Assassination. Not ruining your own economy. China's will be in tatters just as ours will be.

In the short term, sure. But China has a 100 year plan to establish world hegemony.

If this doesn’t launch at least a Cold War, we are in trouble.

Use the NBA and other organizations to support your country, release a virus, and put the world into a depression.

It turns out that in the last couple of years, Chinese nationals have been caught carrying vials of virus vials at American airports. WOnder why that hasn't been reported to the US citizenry? The more time goes on, the more I think that China has been developing these viruses deliberately to be used as a bio weapon. Their action in this pandemic are enough proof to me. China needs to be categorized as a terrorist organization as far as I am concerned. And I hope like hell that they expose the regimes relationship with Democrat operatives and the Corrupt news media.

That's a month old story. There was nothing devious about it, they just have shit for brains. In between eating bat soup and biting off turtles' heads, they fly around with viruses in test tubes.

There's no reason to give these dopes too much credit. Any tech they have they've stolen. I laugh that they have a "100 year plan"

Nuking them incurs pretty stiff environmental penalties and hurts American image. Its not worth it.

Just blockade and starve them out. Obviously the US Navy cant stop them from importing food from Russia, but we can also pressure our allies to import Russian food too which would leave less for the Chinese. If they get desperate and try to attack the blockade? Carpet bomb them out of existence.

This is the easiest way.

The headlines around this are clickbaity but their air force and navy were harassing the guided-missile destroyer USS Barry while conducting a freedom of navigation passage

I wouldn't read too much into it, Barry probably spent the entire time painting them with the SPY-1

Blockade them?

How about we lay siege all the way around their borders?

Starve the rat bastards into submission!

Who cares if they're self sufficient!

They aren't self sufficient, though. They rely on food exports to feed their billion and a half people. Obviously cant cut them off from their land borders, but denying them the sea hurts them tremendously.

Why would they rely on food exports to feed their own people?

Seems counter productive.

What good would it really do to cut them off from imported foodstuffs?

They're virtually self sufficient, and whatever they are short, they'd only have to eliminate or eat that portion of the population.

We could sell our wheat to people who won't eat it with a side of bat.

Maybe they created the Covid-19 to cull their own population of elderly and sick, and it got out of control.

Has anybody thought of that possibility?

It was part of their internal plan to become fully food self sufficient.

Where do you get the idea that they are self-sufficient? The US and the rest of the world needs to look into almost all options short of an all out war. If there is not an immediate decoupling from China we are in store for worse than this little blip, which as already put about 1/3 of our workforce on the streets.

They rely upon energy imports via sea to power their cities.

You're not self sufficient if you're reliant upon others for energy. The US learned that one the hard way in the 1970s

No one really knows. On paper they are strong, but a lot of their tech is unproven and we have no clue how much they have stolen from us.

heck, you could argue that a lot of US capabilities are unproven as well. I mean the Aegis combat system has been deployed for 40 years on US ships, but it has never been given a real baptism by fire so even after all of the tests done and development of it, would it really work as advertised if a ship faced an onslaught of missiles? I would think yes, but until it happens, no one really knows for certain.
