I couldn't believe Michael gave it up to begin with.....but I was happyto see it go to Pax because it meant leaving Horaces hands. No one needed Horace shooting at that point

Shooting free throws you mean? Yeah, I agree.

Shooting anything.

I'd be OK with a dunk, but he was going to be hammered. So it was the right choice and no way in hell was I thinking, NOOOOO when Pax lifted up.

This show is amazing. I can't help but to watch each one twice.

I pretty much don't watch anything twice within a 15-20 year span.

Seeing Ainge hang his head when the pass goes back to Pax....priceless.

Even better was seeing BJ fall down at the opposite wing.

I'm thinking BJ had something to say to Sam Smith as well. Just a feeling I get about him from his interview here - I remember him kind of being a little bitch.

that was unbelievable. Dude was a giant.

But they looked like clean blocks to me.

Plus at that time the unwritten rule was that you dont call a ticky-tack foul at the end of the game

When LeBron does come back he is going to get a huge injury trying to fight the rejuvenated Ghost of MJ.

It may just be the end of him.

It wasn't the unwritten rule the following year when Hollins called the foul on Pippen.

Charles Smith was not fouled.

And back then in the early 90s NBA they weren't calling any fouls when the game was on the line. Except the following year when they called a bs foul on Scottie. That's why there was so much outrage that following year.

I remember when that game 5 was over and they sealed it w BJ's layup w the clock running out it was one of my biggest sports moments. I still remember to this day jumping so high and screaming so loud. The bulls had won 2 rings the previous 2 years but that game 5 victory felt more thrilling, satisfying, amazing, than those 2 rings. Maybe it was the Chicago/ NY thing and that the Knicks were thugs and we beat them on their home floor.

Also a lot of people don't recall that but before that series, MJ said some really derogatory things about John Starks. That he didnt belong in the league etc... People in NY remembered that and the Knicks did too and that's what motivated them winning those first two games. But the bulls won the next 4 and it was really amazing how a big shock that was to the 'NBA UNIVERSE' at that time.

Celtics were king and the Pistons took years to over throw them. Pistons were king and it took the Bulls years to overthrow them. Now it was like the Knicks were next in line to take the throne from the Bulls. Those days it just felt like it was going to happen because that's the way sports worked, the universe work. But MJ would not let it happen. I must say that is my proudest moment as a bulls fan. Game 5 1993 at NY.

added - got me thinking more about that era. the previous year the Knicks drove the Bulls to 7 games in the EC semis. The one guy who had an outstanding series for the Knicks and really got under the Bulls skin was Xavier McDaniel. But the Knicks made a huge mistake by not resigning him in 92/93!!! I remember when they lost him and was like Bulls going to beat them again this year. If the Knicks kept Xavier I don't know if they get past that Knicks team in 93.

Barkley came on after the show on ESPN Sportscenter- great interview . I hope someone links it in this thread.

I think they really understated the rivalry with the Knicks. It was every bit as intense as Detroit and every bit as bloody. The Bulls were more prepared for that type of game though.

The Pistons were ultra talented and would have given the Bulls a good run even without overly physical style. The Knicks could not keep up with the Bulls any other way. Starks personified that team as an undrafted, try hard type who had to play that style just to survive in the league.

What the show really fails to highlight is that the Bulls were the transition team into modern basketball. It wasn't just the Knicks and Pistons playing rough. The league itself was rougher and allowed much rougher play. The Bulls ushered in a much more elegant style. The NBA encouraged the change.

Yeah I think one of the few things I have not liked it about it is the fact that they glossed over the Knicks stuff.

But I guess there is only so much time.

True, but there is a lot of stuff to cover. It really is a decade long documentary not just the last season.

I think it is a combination of time and it is similar to the Piston's stuff.

They gloss over it because the Knicks weren't really all that good. They prided themselves as some sort of foil but they really weren't. They only beat the Bulls when Jordan wasn't available to play.
Detroit was much more talented as a team and theirs was a true rivalry. Knicks were a bunch of frauds masquerading as contenders.

I respected the play of John Starks. He did play tough and borderline dirty basketball. I liken him to Norm Van Lear on one of my other all time favorite Bull teams. He and Jerry Sloan were a excellent back court.
