And he worked like hell on his former players' behalf without much fanfare.

I still can not believe up until like 94 or 95 you could play for one school first five weeks of season then transfer and play for another team at the semester. That had to be absolutely insane.

Fuck him, hope he rots for how he blackballed DePaul. Like it was Ray Meyer's fault that Teddy Grubbs had mental illness.

Of course it will never be alleged that the Meyers ever really took care of their kids. Except for the apartment in Lake Point Tower that players saw like an ATM .

He didn't know Krueger. I believe he also did not know the fans.

I actually played against his 1990 team that was No. 1 in the country. They were absolutely loaded and one of the best High School teams in Illinois history.

Why didn't he stay with King after their transition?

I was a tadbit more respected than that. That King team was so loaded that we believed we were in the game even though we were down 13 at Halftime.

Our coach told us at the break to call a quickie timeout if they scored 2 buckets in a row. By the time we got to the timeout we were down 27.  Jaime Brandon had lit us up coming out of the locker room at half.

He was at Retirement Age and plus they wanted to disavow their basketball past. Once they went selective enrollment they wanted nothing which tied them to their basketball glory days.

Yeah but I never played for Kenwood. They had a bad basketball team and plus Reader's guy Davis never really wanted to be competitive.

The other coaches hated Cox because he'd steal their players all of the time. He had some unbelievable talent come through his program over the years.

Robert Bennett (who later played for Illinois) was supposed to be on that 90' team but transferred because he was going to be a 7th or 8th man. They were loaded.

By the time I was finishing school, I'd go back to talk with Coach Key and he'd come in and shoot the shit with us. Coach Key would squirm quietly when I would hint around about that afterwards.

What are the odds that we would have like 4 Broncos on a sports message board that's had like 7 blacks in its history?
