The Saints have dropped guard Larry Warford onto the open market. The Bears have dropped their pursuit of him.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Bears are not pursuing the three-time Pro Bowler.

It’s unclear whether the Bears were ever officially in on the chase for Warford. They reportedly were considering it. Regardless, they currently are not.

The Texans also have been linked to the 28-year-old Warford, a third-round pick of the Lions in 2013. Warford signed with the Saints in 2017. He started 44 of 48 regular-season games in New Orleans, with five playoff starts.

Bears are out of the Larry Warford chase originally appeared on Pro Football Talk.

Ginn couldn't possibly be worse than T.G.
Foles couldn't possibly be worse than M.T.
The line will be better, Defense will be better.

This team is 9 wins at worst..11 at best.

I agree 11 wins is a good ceiling but the floor could be a lot lower. Potential for 5-6 wins. All depends how the defence does and how Foles does.

I think most of lenos problems were mental, that can be fixed..i dont think he's going to be all pro but he'll be better. Massey couldn't age that quickly..he went from league average to practice squad quality in an off season. He'll be better. Long has sucked for 3 years..thats addition by subtraction.

Guys fall off a cliff all the time. Massie probably wont make it through camp, he wasn't rosterable last year and he surely hasn't gotten better. Leno actually is worse than Massie! But he'll start for cap reasons.

OL is a trainwreck, even if Bars and Daniels pan out its a train wreck.

I'm more worried about Leno than Massie. Leno can't blame his suckage on an injury.

Bears have ninety guys under contract to show up for camp. The only one I think worse than Leno is Ledarius Mack, who they literally just signed so he could hang out at training camp with Khalil.

Pace always seems to spend all of his money so early that he never has time for these good, veteran stop gap signings who get cut after the draft...and they always do.

Seriously, this is the best time to bargain shop in the NFL.

That is just so much wishful thinking. They have three horrible starting offensive linemen. That is the bottom line(pun intended).

Surprised he hasn't signed a backup RB, highly unlikely Montgomery stays healthy all year.

He has a crippling fear of missing out on his guys. This has worked when it came to acquiring the likes of Allen Robinson or Khalil Mack but whoo boy have we given up a lot of extra money and draft capital for no good reason.

I think it's clear Patterson will be used as a RB too.

It would not surprise me if we wait and sign a guy to a cheap 1 year deal like Carlos Hyde or Lamar Miller.

Bringing in a vet ILB would make sense given Trevathan's injury history and Smith's injury and availability issues.

They are paying Roquan an eighth overall pick's salary and Trevathan is vastly overpaid. There's money left over for ILB, Iggy and Woods will have to fill in when Trevathan goes down.

Iyegbuniwe is going into his third year after being drafted in the fourth round. It really is time to expand his role to see what he is, similar to how they developed Kwitkowski. I'm fine with giving him the primary backup role.

Not sure if any of the guys are able to bring the A gap blitz and expose poor pass blocking backs like Kwiatkowski. One would think that bringing pressure up the middle should be successful all the time with the potent outside pass rush that should be consistently present this year.

Kwiatkowski is certainly a better use of money than Trevathan. Its not even close.

But Dan Trevathan has been a very good soldier and one of Pace's better moves overall. The money they gave him was a reward for his service. I'm actually kind of against this sort of behaviour, players already make plenty of money they dont need retirement gifts. But damn at least Trevathan got it in service to the Bears. Pace did the same thing for Graham out of gratitude for what Graham did on the Saints, which is just inexplicable.

Getting Hicks back is going to close that gap.

At least a few years. He has been playing at a high level until his injury last year. Assuming he is fully recovered, there is no reason to think he has nothing left in the tank.

Hicks' performance had noticeably declined prior to his injury last year. He was still good, just not great.

He isn't as explosive as he was in 2018. Same goes for Mack. Bears defense is in decline.

Hicks and Leno both looked like they were out of shape last year after signing contract extensions. One of the interesting things to watch this year will be if the line improves because Foles is able to make the correct line calls. Watching Mitch approach the line and stare blankly at the D for several seconds and being forced to make a line call after the D shifted was one of the more frustrating things to watch over the past few years, as the Packers player said, "make Mitch play QB". That said, Leno looked terrible last year, looked a step slow, could not react to outside speed or inside counter moves.
