Exactly, but they had to adorn it in stupid comic book bullshit. It ruins it. If this were just a movie that depicted all the young white men who feel left behind by society it would've been brave and interesting. A movie nobody has the courage to make and a brooding crisis that few seem to recognize or treat as legitimate.

Instead its an origin story for a superhero villain. Great, who cares.

It was critically acclaimed.

Made over a billion at the box office.

Joaquin won every award he could for his role.

I think it’s safe to say MANY people cared.

I think the subject matter was pretty serious.

This guy wasn’t some diabolical genius like he is in the comics.

He was a proto incel who eventually lost his marbles because society failed him.

I also never got the big super hero/villain payoff that in retrospect would have cheapened the movie.
