Hawk has quite the interpretation of what does and does not constitute treason doesn't he?

This notion of soldiers fighting for the south being traitors is really stupid. A lot of these guys who fought for the South were the descendants of soldiers who fought in the revolutionary war and who were recognized as PATRIOTS. Funny how perception works isn't it? On the one hand we have a soldier who survives a war being hailed as a hero yet his grandson who survives a war is called a "traitor" by an ignorant SOB on a message board. One soldier is considered a hero and his son or grandson is considered a traitor by a bunch of assholes who never fought in a war themselves
If those who fought against England in the Revolutionary War would have lost they likely would have been branded as and probably hanged as traitors. That was/is my point and the resident idiot of the board, LTG, being a "history" teacher has to be a huge joke.
Reading is a skill dumbass. You clearly stated that it was STUPID to think of the soldiers that for the South against the country as being TRAITORS.

You threw in the Revolutionary War soldiers as a means of deflecting from away from the original point. The two are unrelated.
The Soldiers fighting in the Revolutionary War fought against a colonial power. The Confederate Army fought against their own Govt you fucking idiot. They weren't the same thing.
The fact that you can so cavalierly proclaim Obama and Hillary to be traitors yet refuse to view the Confederate Army as traitors says a lot about you and your (lack of) education. You might want to get a refund from whoever and whatever has passed for a history teacher during your miserable life.
Its fairly obvious that you haven't learned a damn thing.
What is blatantly true is that you do not understand history at all. Your silly premise about the soldiers fighting in the Revolutionary War were fighting because England was a colonial power is total crap. The people in America were PART OF THE ENGLISH EMPIRE. Including fighting for that EMPIRE in the French and Indian war. George Washington himself was an ENGLISH officer for cripes sake. This wasn't some people in some colony in the world talking to their neighbors and opining that they should just get together and fight against a "colonial power". They had a singular purpose and that was to declare their independence from the TYRANNY of England and its empire. They felt they were oppressed and treated as second class citizens. The colonists FOUGHT AGAINST THEIR OWN GOVERNMENT you complete moron and in this they did the same thing as what the Southern states did in the War Between the States.
The South felt they were also treated as second class citizens by the North before that war began. It was a war because of difference in economic reality of the time with the South being agricultural and the North being industrial mostly. And while I feel that this war should not have occurred and that it was a huge waste in lives and money, to call those who fought in that war "Traitors" is wrong. What the soldiers of the South did was no different than what the colonists did. They did pretty much what their grandpas did not long before.
Both of those wars had brothers fighting brothers. Tories versus American patriots. The Union versus the Rebs. Neither group were traitors. In the case of the Tories, they took sides with England and fought. Were they "traitors" to America? With the Confederates, they were fighting against tyranny as they saw it.
On another note. You decided once again to insult me and decided to now mock my lack of education and brag I guess about your being some kind of history savant. Well, numbnuts, I've got a bachelors and a Masters degree and an above average knowledge of history, especially American history. To claim that you are an expert in history and have such elementary stupidity about the Civil War, is profound. In other words, YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT.
