Are poor people predisposed to commit crimes and use drugs? Has science identified that gene? These things are allowed to happen because the people who do have a voice remain silent because these abuses of power don't happen in their communities.

The power you give to government and people in power the more they'll take. Eventually these things will find their way in all communities. We're seeing how irate MANY are with 10 weeks of government putting their thumbs on the scale in all communities.

There are more murders and gun violence in poorer communities. And there are more police as a result. When you say things like this are allowed to happen- I don't think they are anymore. Hence the media coverage. It's a chicken or the egg type of argument. I believe police run-ins are a roll of the dice. You are going to eventually meet a bad one or one having a bad day. Your actions during the encounter are going to affect how you are treated. If you start a physical confrontation with a cop there is a good chance it's going to end up poorly.

Frank suggested that he did not care how much it cost during the shooting in Dallas. Ok. How much more in taxes would you pay to attract the best possible police and more training?
Are you certain that even if you paid say $10k a year more that the outcomes would be all that different?

As Jorr has suggested the only sure way to end policing errors is to do away with the police. Would that make communities safer?

The stats show that the overwhelming majority of police interactions in poorer communities are for minor traffic offenses and minor drug offenses. We both know that drug use is similar regardless of race or class, but the police spend their time "cleaning up" drugs in poorer communities. It's legal harassment of lower class citizens. That's why prisons are filled with them.

I don't envy the job a police officer has. In a lot of ways it is a thankless job. That being said, respect for ALL citizens, equal enforcement of laws, proper training and accountability would go a long way. What would that cost? I don't know. I believe that it would reduce the abuses of power and restore trust. Maybe even policing the community that you live in would help.

I have no idea if drug use is the same regardless of race or class. I would say this is likely not true especially for what are considered illegal drugs. Certainly we can change those laws. As for why there are more police in those neighborhoods there are far more violent crimes there. So there are there. And in the course of being there the police are going to witness more minor crimes.

Let's also dismiss the notion that the prisons are full of non-violent drug offenders.

What biting insight. All that matters is the video no other circumstances or facts.

Sure this bit of info will likely be viewed as a game changer by Ruffcorn.

That was the states admitting that not anybody "suggesting" it, but keep going. You're doing great today.

you can live life away from the cops in many places, they probably wont even mind if you live there without a visa. Two months ago you couldn't bribe your way into Mozambique, but I reckon that's probably changed now that border agents have gone more than fifty days without any "cash" bonuses.

well then he'll be found not guilty, unless he posted on Facebook that morning "IM GONNA GO STRANGE THE FIRST HARD-R I SEE AT WORK TODAY".

Still, the lady who had a meltdown at the park is probably going to suffer a worse fate than this cop when its all said and done.

Too many people become police officers for the wrong reason: they want to bully people.

Not all. Not most. But enough. And police forces in challenging neighborhoods take them. (You don't see stories about officer-involved deaths in the mean streets if Winfield...)

The only way to slow this down is to make an example of the bad cops. DA has to bring charges and insist publicly on a maximum sentence for at least voluntary manslaughter for both officers. It doesn't matter if the guy was committing a crime. It doesn't matter if he was resisting arrest. The officers' lives were not in danger.

He deserved to be fired. Full video looks like manslaughter. Don't think the rest of the cops are to blame though.

This is what happens when you hire nerds from the suburbs to police in urban areas. Unfortunately most war vets fail the lefty psyche test and these turds get hired.

How does one of the cops not go up to the guy on his neck and get him off? And not get him off in a Spiral Stairs way.

This is cute.

Thoughtful comment. Care to explain, or just be an ass?

If people in positions of power wanted to make examples of cops they would. Cops being useful to people in positions of power will continue to ensure that meaningful change will not occur.
