Funny how me posting something directly from Twitter seems to upset many here more than the actual murder...

Stop it.

There are plenty of places that are the fucking dregs of the internet like 4chan and reddit and Twitter if you want to indulge in that type of nonsense. What purpose does it serve here?

the real dregs of the Internet are our resident racists here who find every excuse in the book whenever a cop kills a black man.

You know how much misinformation and plain wrong doxxing happens, especially on Twitter? Like I said, the only one who's really going to actually do anything is you but still we should all endeavour to not feed the beast so willingly.

I literally have no regrets on posting that tweet. He should've thought through the consequences before committing murder

ok but you really cant confirm that's his actual address and not the address of some random person. Or, as is very often the case, a not-so-random person somebody is beefing with and cleverly put out there on the internet in bad faith.

Ogie, this seems like a game to you. It doesn't seem like you are considering actual human concerns when you post this stuff.

On the other hand, without people like Ogie (when he's not advocating doxxing and vigilantism, of course), we'd have fewer individual rights. We need those strong voices.

But in this case, Ogie, you're way off base.

local authorities did confirm it and there were protests there last night on the road leading to his home. I verified before posting the tweet here.

Ogie and many others would call it an uprising. I might even consider it one myself.

Yup. We are clearly in the Exploit stage, where both the democrats and the president fan the flames to rile up the base. It wont calm down for a little bit now.

uprising is the correct word, and expect it to grow to other cities

Good to see now that the COVID hoax isn't news anymore, we can always go back to good old-fashioned race baiting.

Uprisings are fascinating and enjoyable to read about. But they seem like hell to live through.

This isn't an uprising. Its probably about two hundred people having a romp while being filmed by about a thousand bystanders, and then being watched and commented on by millions.

The mayor himself has been egging this on and now the president is basically begging them to do more stuff so he can send the military in. Nobody is going to overthrow anyone, are you kidding? This is exactly what politicians from both parties are wanting to have happen. How can you people be watching this movie for the dozenth time and still not understand the fucking plot?

And uprising would have clear objections, demands, and strategy. This is smashing up windows and burning buildings for fun.

You frequently bring black straw men into a discussion in order to make a statement by beating them down and dismissing any arguments about equity or injustice.

What's the purpose?

What "black straw men" have I brought into arguments. It's my default position on nearly every disagreement here.

For example the last race disagreement we had stemmed from your claim that if black people were dying from coronavirus it was because of pour medical treatment at subpar hospitals. That isn't supported by any evidence. And you used Yelp reviews to prove your point. It's a shoot from the hip argument that we are all supposed to agree to because race and injustice was evoked.

In Minnesota an unarmed man died in police custody. You are more likely to die from a bee or wasp sting that this occurring. Yet it is being said this this happens all the time. First Eric Garner a decade ago and now this! It's ridiculous to use a single incident as evidence that this is how life is or as justification for destroying a city. If there were actual figures that showed thousands of unarmed only black people dying in police custody then I would agree that the police are racist rather than just lazy and incompetent.

Racism is lazily used all the time to explain complicated issues or outcomes we don't like.

You're doing it now.

We didn't have a race disagreement. I made a comment about an equity issue when it comes to certain hospitals in black communities in Chicago and you immediately dismissed it. Turned it into a discussion about "no one is intentionally killing black people." Of course you mocked the Yelp reviews and other things, but you couldn't provide evidence that Jackson Park was a quality hospital.

We've had 4 stories recently where the victims were killed by cops or former cops. Each time, your position has been the same. No one is arguing about what someone is likely to die by. You feel more comfortable making that argument or pointing to how many people were shot in Chicago than acknowledging that a white man made a mistake or that a black person was wronged. The same thing happened with Arbery in Georgia. You were so fixated on his past and his behavior in order to dismiss the actions of 3 men. At the same time you were saying "wait and see".

You're absolutely right, there are MANY times when racism is lazily used to explain something far more complex. I think a class argumentvwould explain a lot of it. Years ago we shocked the world and agreed on this. Now you're even dismissing the class argument because it would mean that you have to acknowledge that equity issues exist in this country.

Not at all.

I've thought about this a little more, and I still think so. Whether it's a large one (American Revolution) or a small one, there are factions and people have different reasons for rising up and different ways of doing so. Even in Minnesota, there were distinct groups of people protesting and people vandalizing because they are assholes, and some who probably vandalizing out of rage.

Even if you don't call it an uprising, I wonder if people say we're doing this out of self-defense. I guess that's part of an uprising.

Edit: Uprisings are messy. I'm also not saying it wasn't a riot. But uprisings are mess-ay.

They're not stealing TV's from Target or robbing a pawn shop blind out of "self defense", come the fuck on, Tommy. Come back to reality instead of trying to keep from saying something that board idiots will call you a racist for.

One thing historically I have seen on the news is uprisings tend to get squashed. Mostly violently. That usually isn’t the case in the US. Call it what you want I hope it ends the best way possible.
