I think she makes some really great points, but blaming Biden for mass incarceration is misguided. The primary issue with mass incarceration starts at the state and local levels. Most people who make it to federal prison weren't petty drug dealers or users.

Not at all.

I've thought about this a little more, and I still think so. Whether it's a large one (American Revolution) or a small one, there are factions and people have different reasons for rising up and different ways of doing so. Even in Minnesota, there were distinct groups of people protesting and people vandalizing because they are assholes, and some who probably vandalizing out of rage.

Even if you don't call it an uprising, I wonder if people say we're doing this out of self-defense. I guess that's part of an uprising.
They're not stealing TV's from Target or robbing a pawn shop blind out of "self defense", come the fuck on, Tommy. Come back to reality instead of trying to keep from saying something that board idiots will call you a racist for.

What about those hitting the police station? Is that not an uprising?
Considering how long it took to become a target, and the "targets" that preceded it, no, I'm not willing to label this an "uprising". The police station happened to be in the way of a riotous mob that couldn't find anything else to loot, nothing more.

I don't think tommy's worried about getting called a racist. Really, only the racist folks on here worry about that.

like JLN, WFR, Chas, and a few others.

I'm gonna guess that when some guys were dumping tea into Boston Harbor and planning to create a new nation others were carrying tea back to their homes without any other thought than to drink it for breakfast the next day without paying for it. Revolutions aren't perfect.

It was a target literally night 1, Police manning the barricades was the only thing that kept people out of the building then. It was when police abandoned it that they came in and torched the place.

Let's be real, it bothers you to see black people acting out against injustice because you support the very injustice they are fighting against.

Be patient. The media didn’t want to give that up until they saw fire. They'll pivot back to celebrating the dead in dramatic fashion shortly.

The thing is though, there are people sitting in jail- many of them black and brown- for no other crime than selling the same weed that a connected guy in Barrington is now selling to pay the mortgage on his mansion.

I don't buy it. Unlike other advanced nations, we've made an industry out of locking poor people up. Americans aren't more likely to be criminals than any other people in the world.

No. I was specifically told that prisons are only filled with rapists and murderers.

i realized you're just talking in general, but what about the stores that all burned down, those people are going to be out of jobs now ? And they were saying that area is a food desert of sorts and that people relied on that Target, i mean i guess you got your TV or what not, but its not like the Target truck is gonna roll up tomorrow and restock all the shelves, where are those people gonna get stuff from now ?

It was a shithole. If we're talking about Target being the only grocery store in the area, we should be asking MANY more questions.

Someone's opinion is more important than facts. If a black person says something just trust them. They never lie, exaggerate, or simply misinterpret situations. Ever. We can also be certain that the cop was a rabid racist not a lazy, shitty cop. This opinion justifies any and all actions in response to this incident going forward.

Why is this your default position?

Because it conforms to his overall worldview regarding black people.

This is "they were probably criminals" his justification for the lynching of black people during Jim Crow. Fits in quite nicely with the events of the past couple of weeks doesn't it?

OK. Why aren't there grocery stores in impoverished areas? Kroger(Food4Less) seems to be the only one servicing these areas. I can logically guess why. You have some other reasons other than profit margin?

general rule here for this thread, but if you were against Kaepernick kneeling, you don't get to tell the people to protest peacefully.

When was the last time you saw a "lazy, shitty cop" put a knee on a white persons neck and kill him? Why are all these "lazy, shitty, cops" only being "lazy, shitty, cops" to black people?

And yes, I would value the opinion of a black man/women who has actually experienced racism as appose to someone who read about it on social media or had a bad experience at a Starbucks when they refused to give him a new cup with the correct spelling of his name.

No, Tommy. Racial thoughts are different than racist thoughts. This is what SJWs, in their infinite wisdom of being segregated their whole life, tend to confuse. Don't confuse yourself.

It was a shithole. If we're talking about Target being the only grocery store in the area, we should be asking MANY more questions.

OK. Why aren't there grocery stores in impoverished areas? Kroger(Food4Less) seems to be the only one servicing these areas. I can logically guess why. You have some other reasons other than profit margin?

Liquor stores, pawn shops, payday loan stores and "grocery shopping" at the gas station is better?

Juicy. I hate to break it to you, but Nas' opinion on how balck people are seen in this country matters a lot more than yours does.

See this is the type of patronizing initialization that would piss me off to no end. B Mac is essentially saying Nas has permission to go on because he seems friendly. If Nas weren't friendly? Well, heh...we all know how pizza boy gets when he's mad at someone...

When was the last time you saw a "lazy, shitty cop" put a knee on a white persons neck and kill him? Why are all these "lazy, shitty, cops" only being "lazy, shitty, cops" to black people?

And yes, I would value the opinion of a black man/women who has actually experienced racism as appose to someone who read about it on social media or had a bad experience at a Starbucks when they refused to give him a new cub with the correct spelling of his name.

Sitting on the guy looked like it was lazy policing. And where do you get the idea that the police are only killing black people? It's not the case in 3/4 of shootings: https://mappingpoliceviolence.org/

It was a target literally night 1, Police manning the barricades was the only thing that kept people out of the building then. It was when police abandoned it that they came in and torched the place.

Let's be real, it bothers you to see black people acting out against injustice because you support the very injustice they are fighting against.
I support calling mob action a riot when the facts support it, like when the list of commercial targets looted for valuables before being destroyed dwarfs the list of targets that could be considered "strategic" for an "uprising". If you want to get your rocks off calling me a racist, have fun you psycho.

Well, I am racist. It's hard not to be, at least for me, unless I constantly question myself.

No, Tommy. Racial thoughts are different than racist thoughts.

Agreed

What happens when there aren't jobs for them to go back to?

i realized you're just talking in general, but what about the stores that all burned down, those people are going to be out of jobs now ? And they were saying that area is a food desert of sorts and that people relied on that Target, i mean i guess you got your TV or what not, but its not like the Target truck is gonna roll up tomorrow and restock all the shelves, where are those people gonna get stuff from now ?
