People shoot at cops all the time. The Breanna Taylor thing everyone is so incensed over wouldn't have happened had the guy not shot at the police. He actually hit an officer. He says he didn't know it was the cops but we all know that's bullshit that only people like Ogie believe. Police having to kill people to defend themselves or defend someone else in mortal danger is not uncommon at all, and is justifiable. Also that figure that gets cited usually cites people who die in car accidents caused by somebody fleeing, something police dont really do any more but still has times when its necessary.

If you are not breaking any laws, or in the company of people breaking laws, your odds of being killed by a cop are near zero. You are way more likely to be struck by lightning. I suppose its possible, but you'd need to be supremely unlucky. You may as well never get in a car again if you're that risk averse.

If you are breaking the law its still supremely unlikely unless you are being violent. You'd need to be really acting up to get killed by a cop.

This Minneapolis case is one case in years where its obvious the cop went over the line. In a country of three-hundred thirty million, at this scale of people with the incredible third-world crime rates the USA has its just a matter of time before the wheel gets spun enough that it lands of "accidentally killed by overbearing cop".

Nobody should be reasonably afraid of this happening to them. It would take extraordinarily bad luck. If you dont like reading about it on the news? I suggest you stop watching the news, or at least watch it with a more critical eye. But we are not going to abandon the American way of life because people get upset about news that doesn't affect them. If that means using the military to put this shit down, so be it.

The harassment of black Americans? What does that even mean? I get harassed by cops at least once a year. I have some horror stories. It doesn't make me issue a blanket statement that cops are all evil.

To me it's a form of racism to say black people they are all oppressed. And so is hiring a "diversity and justice" reported to ask question about offensive terms at press conferences. This is hypothesizing a racial crisis into being.

And a lot of those killings are justified.

The thing that irks me the most about Monday's murder is that without video they would've probably gotten the coroner to rule it a natural death and it wouldn't even count as a killing by cop.

No, they are milking it. It's CNN. The talking heads are sitting there with long faces like they are the victims. They are claiming this is racism or attack on the press when it is clearly a case of the cops are not sure what to do. The cops are gonna make mistakes. They did. Big fucking deal.

Now if they beat the shit out of them and threw them in jail, that's different. But the head of CNN called Minnesota's Governor, and they were released within minutes.

This was a case of the cops not knowing what to do. CNN is not the story here.

I'm going to disagree with you on some of this. It not being racist, I have no problem with. It is absolutely a big deal and an attack on the press. The police arresting the media even after producing their credentials (even after the officers appear to reach out to their superiors) IS a MAJOR problem. We have a 1st amendment for a reason. If we're going to allow law enforcement/government to arrest properly credentialed members of the press who are covering them, we won't have a country. That can't be allowed to happen regardless of the media outlet. Cops in Mayberry should know not to do this.
