The feds and military dont clown around. People like to bloviate how there's been NO REFORM the last ten years, but there actually has been a ton of effort to soften policing. The pressure on departments to not have these types of incidents is immense. Its something a lot of people dont (or I really think choose not to) realize.

But the army isn't like that. Nor is the secret service. They aren't really taught delicateness.

The national guard in MSP has reportedly decided to pull back and not confront protesters. Just a hunch, but I'd imagine a good number of the troops identify more with the protesters than with the cops. The guardsmen probably have friends and family joining in.
