if you're the protesters, you spend all day rallying the troops for a show down with the red hats at the white house. making plans in your public discord channels and on social media to meet up @ Lafayette Sq or wherever in downtown DC and blustering about taking it to MAGA hats yadda yadda. Then you back channel plan with trusted comrades to go after G-town, Adams Morgan, Wisconsin/Connecticut aves out toward the Maryland burbs or across the river in Virginia while LE's all consolidated in downtown near the White House and monuments.

None of those who want to damage and steal property really want to go into a neighborhood with a substantial percentage of retired military. That'd be like Antifa deciding to attack the Naked Warrior statue and the Hotel del Coronado on Coronado Island and watching a couple of hundred retired SEALs still living on the island come in and break every single person's hips.

Nova would be a bad call in that regard. Same for any of the inner ring Maryland burbs. Difficult to find neighborhoods without a substantial military/retired military presence in greater DC. Adams Morgan or the more student-y parts of Georgetown probably their best bets. Maybe DuPont Circle if they wanna stay closer to central DC.

He’s had numerous chances recently to act presidential and has failed miserably. If he loses it isn’t because of events out of his control, it’s because he dropped the ball on what should be easy leadership wins.
