He's an asshat. He's done nothing but promote the hatred and division, is "shocked" and disappointed now, and now he's going to tell celebrities they don't do enough. Don Lemon should worry about Don Lemon, maybe he should do more. I hope everybody he named tells him to get fucked. And why the hell would I listen to celebrities. They are a bunch of self absorbed assholes with expensive shoes and ice cream. They done nothing but tell everybody to stay at home while in their pools or playing basketball in their courts in their basements. Fuck them too.

This is 100 percent true. But at least someone is calling them out.

Calling them out for what? What are they suppose to do? Say this is bad and sad? Then what? None of us really have any power. I wouldn't condemn anyone for not going into the cities. I certainly wouldn't want my kids going if they were old enough.

My initial reaction was he was asking the celebs to speak out against the riots and looting...but I can see now that he apparently wants them to encourage more rioting and looting.

They threw shipments of tea into the Boston harbor. Kind of different from looting business, burning buildings/transportation, and throwing projectiles at law enforcement.

During those times that was as equal or worse than looting is in today's times. destroying the kings's property was considered treason and punishment by hanging.

The fact that Don Lemon actually has a show is the real embarrassment. All he is is a drunk race baiter and is worse than those assholes doing the looting. Just points out the insanity of the left winged fake news shows.

I'm gonna guess it was a lot more raucous and disorganized than we might like to imagine. I'd also bet there were guys running crates of tea back to their houses.

But if we're going to make this comparison, it's relevant to ask if we're in the early stages of a revolution. Because if we are, we better hope we have a Franklin and a Jefferson. And frankly, I don't see them.

Wikipedia has a sourced assertion that all 342 crates of tea aboard the relevant ships were destroyed.

Also, the tea and the destruction thereof was directly related to the unease caused by the Tea Act and Townshend Act. Which valuables stolen from unwitting store owners over the last few days have had such a relation—or ANY relation—to the killing of George Floyd, or any instance of police brutality?

Trying to compare this in any meaningful way to the Boston Tea Party is just absurd.

I doubt the American Revolution was as civilized and organized as you want to believe. But I'll wait 250 years and see what Wikipedia says about the events of last night.

The (Pre Tea Party) Boston Massacre has a lot in common with the current climate. Read the first few paragraphs...pretty interesting.

So because it was a long time ago you just get to cite "time" to discredit two different authors of history on the notion?

Outside of that poor argument, any comment on the whole "stealing a rolex from a pawn shop has nothing to do with Floyd or police violence like the tea had to do with the Tea act and Townshend Act" thing?

I have to say, after reading you rightly call into question credentials/"expertise" regarding our approach to the coronavirus over the past few months, it's quite odd to see you lean on credentials/"expertise" to support your argument here.

I have no credentials and I'm not an expert in anything, but I do understand human nature. And I'm 100% certain that the percentage of rotten motherfuckers standing on the docks in 1773 Boston is the same as the percentage of rotten motherfuckers running around American cities today.

This could be true. I don't know. What is certain is that people have changed quite a bit since then. If you took someone from 1776 to this time the level of change would to so shocking it would be difficult for them to cope. How does all the information we have access to change who we are? Does it make us more or less prone to violence?

I think the mass hysteria we are seeing is only due to modern media.

Well human nature is evolving as well. Being plugged in all the time alters who we are. There have also been some positives. In 1946 the United States had a nuclear monopoly. In 1948 Staline directly challenged the United States by closing off Berlin. We opted not to go to war with them. Most thinkers of that era thought a war was inevitable. Some called for a preemptive strike.
