There's Jet at it again. Anyone who commits violence is a "Trump supporter". What makes you think they were Trump supporters? Because some hysterical woman was screaming "FUCK DONALD TRUMP!" at them? Because they had the audacity to fly the American flag?

The funny thing is, that "Trump supporter" narrative was writ large for a few moments yesterday when "white supremacists" were blamed for the riots and looting by CNN and MSNBC among others until such narrative became so obviously preposterous- almost instantly- that it was rendered untenable.

It's also "preposterous" to think (as you and Fox News shockingly, kept pushing all of yesterday) that the riots were mostly due to Government shutdowns that occurred over the past 2-3 months.

Can you support your contention?

I'll support mine. There were less black men killed in police custody over the last year than there have been in a long time and we've never seen anything like this is the past. What is different now? Oh yeah, we just threw 40 million Americans out of work on purpose.

As a side note, you sure do watch a lot of Fox News.

Yeah unlike you I like to be "fair and balanced".
1. For your contention to be true then cities such as Atlanta, L.A., and Houston would not have gone up the way that they have. Each has been open for weeks now.

2. Blacks haven't been the only ones rioting if you haven't noticed. Thus your notion that it was simply about "black men in custody" dying less is fallacious.

3. Many of the people rioting were young and less apt to be effected by rising unemployment caused simply by the shutdown. A great number of the youth were unemployed prior to the shutdown anyway.

So it's not caused by the lockdowns, it's not caused by George Floyd's death, what do you think is driving it?

I’d wager violent protests were going to happen anyways given the mood of the country regardless of COVID-19. Everyone has been on edge the past 4 years (excluding Ogie and denis is their #FastTrack bubbles)

That's certainly the spark. But there's a hopelessness that has been created by the collapsing economy and the promotion of a "new normal" that everyone knows is a euphemism for a shit normal.

George Floyd's death has to be factored into it but there are fundamental problems with America's economic, political, and social structure which have to be addressed. That is the real boogeyman in the room and most people ignore it until it adversely affects them. That is only time most people care to be bothered with that sort of thing.

We as a country have to start looking at that. As long as the money only flows to the top there will periodically be problems. It is obscene how far the income gulf is between CEOs and workers these days. Particularly when you compare it to where it happened to be 50-60 years ago.

Just wait until people REALLY start to feel the pain of 40+ million people being unemployed.

We'll see if things escalate or quiet in the near term, but long term there's a real question here for you and police departments?

Is America going to wake up and start reigning in out of control departments and out of control officers or are we just going to move on as we have (which is what we did after the last round) and then let this bubble up and turn into something even worse?

The ball is in the court of police departments. They can do some self reflection and purge their ranks of scum and institutionally change themselves, stop the no knock raids, stop harassing people on the streets, stop killing unarmed men, etc. Or, they can continue to be violent thugs and ask how we got there the next time they are targeted by a justifiably angry population

If you want people to actually protest peacefully, then perhaps you should support them when they do so.

Were you supporting Kaepernick when he did so? If not, then shut the fuck up.

This is a message for everyone here. If you were crying like a bitch when people were kneeling in a peaceful manner by kneeling, then you probably should shut the fuck up. You had a chance to listen to what were legitimate concerns and grievances and cried like a little b&tch when they were brought up. Well you didn't listen to the peaceful and reasonable demands so now those who have suffered under the status quo and those who are sympathetic to them are lashing out through violent means. You helped bring this about, what are you going to do about it now?

You're talking to the guy who said he'd support ISIS protesting in the streets. I took no issue with Kap protesting. My only concern was when other players started doing it too while not completely understanding the message, which resulted in those players saying things like "it's about Trump" when asked.

Oh blow it out your ass. Nobody helped bring about criminals looting 4K TV's from Target and glitzy watches from pawn shops, or designer clothes from shops on the opposite end of the country from where this incident happened. That's all on the criminals. Hold them accountable for their bad behavior.

most of the players kneeling knew exactly what it was about, just as the NBA players wearing #ICantBreathe shirts did

Also, it's pathetic that the Administration pulled that stunt a few years ago at the Colts game. They flew Pence there knowing that the Seahawks (a team with many players who kneeled) were there just so Pence could walk-out in theatrics and be a snowflake about it.

You were being disingenuous regarding the ISIS stuff. If you were as open about that sort of thing as you are pretending to be now then "woke" people of the world such as "July" wouldn't trouble you the way that they do.

You've openly sought to have posters banned on here yet you would be comfortable with a terrorist org walking down State Street? Sure you would.

You weren't required to support him, but if you didn't, then you sure as hell aren't allowed to cry about the protesters not being peaceful. They tried that route.

If you were around in 1770s Boston, you would've been one of the first people the Colonists tarred and feathered.

What this has shown clearly is that the mayors and governors are not doing their defined roles of PROTECTING ITS CITIZENS. Especially Democrat officials. What good is calling up the state police and National Guard if you don't use them and if you don't stop arson, looting, and attacks? THAT IS THEIR JOB. And don't think that Soros isn't greasing their pockets either for them to allow this shit to go down the way it has.

I'll say this. If I were a business owner, I'd be hiring some of the best former marines and rangers I could find to set up shop inside the door of my store with armed weapons, probably shot guns. I'd put a sign on the door to get the fuck away from my store. This shit would absolutely stop my store from being looted and burned.

There are so many crowd control things that these cities have done wrong in riot control that it boggles the mind. THe way those expensive cars were pulling up to the stores, people jumping out, filling their arms and carts with stuff and throwing it in their cars was disgusting. And I am not talking about black people either. I'm talking about all people who were mostly young white men and women. Why didn't the cops prevent those cars from the areas? And where was anyone to take the license numbers of those cars and arrest these asshole later?

The murder of that black man was a terrible crime. But there is at least an equal crime being committed across the country and that is organized chaos being allowed in our cities and unless that is stopped by law by these stupid ass mayors and governors, there will be a civil war happening with people who have not been protected by their government taking their defense into their own hands. I hope to GOd that doesn't happen but it just might.

Oh blow it out your ass. Nobody helped bring about criminals looting 4K TV's from Target and glitzy watches from pawn shops, or designer clothes from shops on the opposite end of the country from where this incident happened. That's all on the criminals. Hold them accountable for their bad behavior.

Imagine seeing decades of abuse in this country with little changing and still repeating this tired line.
Do you do stretches or some kind of warm up before you tie yourself in knots to excuse criminal behavior?

If you were around in 1770s Boston, you would've been one of the first people the Colonists tarred and feathered.
Oh sick historical burn, dude.

Here's a fun game, kiddies: Guess which poster, JLN or Ogie Oglethorpe, first advocated on this board for repealing qualified immunity for police officers as a means to stem the tide of unwarranted police abuse? The answer may shock you.
