Why are people crying because billion dollar businesses were looted? These people just got trillions in bailouts and they spend millions to redesign their stores what seems like every 6 months. They'll be fine. Like sheep, we're more worried about a billionaire's business than we are worried about human lives. More worried about the powerful than the poor.

The "difference" (as you asked)in the black and white racist is that the white racist has power and influence. The white racist can ascend (even in 2020) all the way to the White House. The black racist is more than likely to need a public defender once he receives his assault and theft charges.

But so many of the people who support these issues will laugh off the economic anxieties white Americans felt which got them to elect Trump. I want to be clear, I dont think the economic argument for whites or blacks holds any water at all. Median income among exclusively lower income Americans is greater than overall median income in the UK, Israel, New Zealand, Japan, Finland and Italy. People around the world make do and are happy with less money than even lower income Americans have, and I will tell you from personal experience it was way more expensive to afford rent and food in New Zealand ($250/week rent in Wellington to have just a room) than America. Food was about 1.5x as expensive and gas about five times as expensive.

Before you ask for a source:
https://www.cnbc.com/2019/09/28/how-muc ... earns.html

It is abundantly obvious to anyone with any sort of perspective that more money, or a bigger piece of the pie, will not make people in America happier. So I just dont buy the economic anxiety argument anymore. Not when white people do it, not when black people do it.

I wouldn't argue with your assessment if we all lived within a vaccuum. But it's a lot more complicated than that. Nobody really needs indoor plumbing. We could live without it. But when everyone else has it, how does walking out to the outhouse feel?

We have an entire society built on accumulation. I don't see how you ask one particular segment of the population to pretend that isn't the case. Especially when they are contantly assaulted with advertising that shows them what they lack.

If you want to say that an economy like that is a shitty economy, I'll agree. But I think we'll find out how preferable that shitty economy was to what we'll have if this stuff reaches its logical conclusion and we're all sitting in the rubble of our formerly great cities.

When white racists murder people and burn down buildings they go to jail the overwhelmingly majority of the time. There are times they dont, but black racists killing white people get off at about the same rate. There's just inherent imperfections in the justice system where clearly guilty people walk free because a determination has been made that its preferable to let a few guilty people walk to preserve these protections. Sucks, but that's the way it is. Maybe once upon a time it had a lot to do with race, but it doesn't anymore.

You and your compadres spent the better portion of a week trying to justify the actions of two guys that chased a jogger in a pickup truck,, pulled weapons (the only people with weapons by the way) and then shooting and killing the guy. You tried to provide a rationale for the bullshit. To the best of my knowledge no one is doing that here.

He wasn't just "going for a jog", really. Nobody jogs in work boots. Those guys knew each other and had some issue, they resolved it by murder. An outcome far too common in this country. Either way, they are all going to prison.

Lastly you may not have noticed but there were also a number of whites doing the protesting and looting too. The kids that attacked the cop and his partner were not black.

This is definitely true. There are white people using this as an excuse to cause mayhem, it is undeniable. But what has fostered these conditions where people like that are acting with relative impunity is black rage.

I know in your rather Eurocentric view of the world there are certain things that may be oblivious to you but you might want to consider a few things first.

A. Per Capita (far more indicative than your oft stated median) income for blacks is half that of whites in this country.

B. Per Capita income for black people in this country is only slightly greater than the poverty line.

C. Wealth Gap.The Average White person in this country has 13 times the wealth of the average black person..

D. Unemployment. For the past 50 years black unemployment has been at least double that of white employment. At least twice and that doesn't account for those that have traditionally been out or excluded from the labor market altogether.

E. Crime. I know in your and a few others heft to make the argument that blacks are predisposed to commit crime you might want to consider this. Crime rates for the black middle class are "eerily" similar to the crime figures for the white middle class.

With all of this being the case to suggest that economics do not play a role is misinformed and misguided.

A lot of pharmacies. I'm seeing the photos on Facebook where people "looted" folks medication. That's a bigger issue to me than a Gucci bag being stolen.

I think people are way more upset about the losses of places like Central Camera that are really irreplaceable and have been in business for over one-hundred years. The issue with looting CVS and Target is not that they are hurting the business, its that the economy needs a degree of lawfulness to function normally. Without that it becomes impossible to do business.

Destroying small businesses is destroying American heritage, its a direct assault on the principles of entrepreneurship and self reliance that are at the core of the American character (or at least were once upon a time). It is not unlike ISIS topping the ruins at Palmyra. It should not be flippantly dismissed.

Looks like blacks and whites joined together to possibly kill a man. Not sure if that was a part of MLK's dream.

I’m heading downtown to join my black brothers and try and get some sweet Air Jordan’s too. #ThisiswhyIkneel #equality

You'll likely be the one to break the glass with a sledgehammer. I won't cry because you stole from Nike.

99% of people who are rioting and who have had it better than 99% of the people in history are black. You agree but are afraid of being called a racist.

Everyone around the world is subject to mostly the same forces. The American system results in so much prosperity that its been modeled basically everywhere except for a few choice exceptions like the DPRK or Cuba. People say places like Denmark are "socialist" or whatever, but they aren't. The Danish government itself has had to respond to this type of rhetoric from Americans by saying they aren't socialist.

I dont think the problem here is with the institutions. I dont think its with the fact that there are a class of super-rich in America who relish their role in keeping poor people down, if they did they'd keep them making way less money than they currently earn.

The problem here is with Americans.

The fact that you are justifying this shit speaks very ill of you. A lot of these stores were just re-opened because of the Chinese virus causing them to be shut down and employees laid off. The people doing this shit are not the people who have lost jobs. They are people being paid to loot, burn, and hurt cops.

Per capita is not more indicative than my "oft-stated median". The point here is to draw central data that shows how the average person lives, not letting the fortunes accumulated by a handful of billionaires make working people seem way more wealthy than they are. I'm not saying ignore it, but if you are trying to show me how the average person lives then median is way more important than per capita.

I'm not going to let you reframe this entire discusison (which I am genuinely trying to have) by making a bad faith effort to use metrics that are simply not representative. Sorry, I wont indulge this.

I wont talk about this anymore. I suggest you do some googling around reading statisticians take on this.

You should read better. I'm not justifying anything, but I'm not going to ever care more about what's happening to a billion dollar business than I care about your life or my neighbors lives. It says a lot about you if you're more worried about those big businesses than a poor man or child dying.

My gut feeling is that if this doesn't calm down today the military is going to calm it down by force. There's gonna be a lot of hysterics, but I dont think there's enough jet fuel left for it be as meaningfully bad as it has been. Certainly not enough to confront soldiers.

Thats a step in the right direction. But PEOPLE need to stand up for law and order themselves in their mayors and governors don't do it. Put the cops in riot gear and let them and the National Guard crack heads when these assholes try and do their shit. Enough is enough. Hire soldiers and marines in these stores with shotguns to stop looting and fires. Enough is enough. This is not about a couple of minorities being killed or hurt. I watched in horror as about an 80 pound Asian woman was beaten to a pulp by big thugs with clubs in some city yesterday. Where were the cops protecting her and her husband who also was beat up? And if that man shot the thug, then does he got to jail and prison? By these fucked up liberal laws, he probably would be prosecuted for "taking the law into his own hands".

I say that the owners of these businesses and homes (yeah homes) need to protect their own when cops won't. Sit in your home, apartment, or business and take care of shit yourself. No person I know that is faced down by a shotgun wouldn't shit their pants and go away.

Its bullshit. You know that right? Its just a stupid label. The intelligence and military apparatus of the USA is not going to mobilize itself to destroy Antifa the way it did ISIS. He's just tweeting bullshit, which is basically all he does.

If we really decided antifa was a terrorist organisation then you'd see them getting slaughtered all over the country. I'm talking drone strikes and raids. None of that will happen, of course. For a littany of obvious reasons. Stop falling for Trump's shit, he's all talk.
