1 week from now when things are settling down further, what are your thoughts going to be on violence by police? Are you going to change your tune or will you continue down this path of letting police stomp on unarmed civilians and just let this blow up again?

How are things calmer in Chicago?

Not where I live; we got looting on the southwest side and the surrounding towns.

True. Especially the Target Co that shuttered two stores which were generally busy in Morgan Park and Chatham for no apparent reason other than they weren't profitable "enough".

Lightfoot is "heartbroken" for restaurants (that were closed down for ten weeks) were looted.

She's in a tough position, but that was a bad comment. Poorly phrased. Own it a little, Lori.

I was clear I thought. They weren't profitable "enough". That was the company's own reported statement. But carry on with your tired trolling and having the buffoons of the board looking to you for inspiration.

Even if they weren't, I think the point is that it still sucks for the neighborhoods.

Was it on this board or something I just happened to read that argued how American police supposedly protect property, and not human lives, in riots?

It seems like they don't protect property any longer. Or they sacrifice certain amounts of property in order to not hurt (i.e., kill) individuals. In short, I think the writers might have to re-think that.

I think in the LA riots of '92, one criticism was that they let the rioters destroy property in non-White neighborhoods.

Just wondering. Criminal justice and critical race studies (a legal area of analysis) used to talk about this a lot.

Ok, I'll shut up until tamarra.

I’m reading on Twitter and Reddit that Latino gangs are policing their neighborhoods from looters now.

A beauty supply store, an H&R Block and a Foot Locker. Amazing how the tv cameras focused on the looting clowns, right up until they could've filmed the license plates of the getaway cars.

I'm not sayin'...
