I may have missed it in the 68 pages of nonsense, but did all of the "DON'T YOU DARE KNEEL DURING MY ANTHEM" people here lose their shit about the Cincy cops taking down the US Flag and raising the Blue Line flag?

This happens during elections but unfortunately much or all of the looting appears to be home-grown.

I watched some of the live looting on tv coverage yesterday. The looters were taking things like a case of beer and then walking down the street. Seemed hyper local. I doubt you drive from Arkansas to take a case of beer.

Unfortunately the vast majority of Americans are going to remember the protests as violent, and it will diminish the important message of police reforms and training.

The training thing is a myth. One of three that have been blown out of the water in 2 weeks.

Myth #1: Big city white liberals are the black community's friends and advocates(see Central Park Karen)
When the rubber meets the road, they are as racist as the guy in the holler in ol' Kentuck. Just
like the drunk who spews what he really thinks, the segregated white liberal spews what they
really think when they are a-scared.

Myth #2: There 's only a few bad apples in police(Watch three guys do nothing as the bad apple kills)

Myth #3: No amount of training can overcome the fraternity or the culture. There's the thugs in blue, and
those that cover for them.

But there are far more Republicans that promote aggressive policing however. Make no mistake. This was created by aggressive policing practices. Historic use of aggressive policing practices.

Trump encouraged this by repeatedly endorsing such practices while running for President. Republicans also have repeatedly made it appear that crime is a huge problem which need to be corrected. This despite the fact that crime has been on the decline for years. Particularly homicide rates. That never gets reported.

I will agree with you but where the majority of the riots are happening are historically democratic strongholds. When was the last time the Republicans where in charge in Chicago? LA? New York. Come on man, We have to stop taking both the racial bait and the R vs D bait. It is a rich vs poor thing, period.

What racial bait? Policing is a racial issue in this country and always has been. Rudy Giuliani was a,Republican in Charge of New York. So was Bloomberg for the most part. Darryl Gates was a Republican. Many of the people that run police depts tend to be law and order Republicans.

The guy in Minneapolis is a "law and order" Republican. We are here today because of aggressive policing. Not because of Democratic Mayors. If we continue to ignore the screams of disenfranchised people we are going to keep ending up here.

I would make a distinction between "aggressive policing practices" and the actual murder/manslaughter. Almost everyone agrees that the final act itself was terribly wrong and a crime. But I'm genuinely curious whether some believe anything leading up to that point was also wrong, or too "aggressive." If so, what?

Its ironic and hypocritical to hear Trump and his supporters rail against all of the looting considering that he looted his charity fund and none of them ever seemed to have a problem with it.

It may have the unintended consequence of leading to more aggressive policing in other cities but I think in Minneapolis there will definitely be reform.

What does police reform look like ?

It still wouldn't excuse his applying the sort of pressure to the guy's neck that he applied. I honestly believe that Floyd probably did resist to some degree but as a cop he should know how to diffuse the situation.

Why is this a bad thing?

When people are in danger, if nobody can protect you, its up to you to protect yourself.

The United States Constitution is an ageless document in that vein.

I don't understand the but. There's no but. You added another myth to mine

The problem is and always has been segregation. While identity politics points out problems, it also exacerbates the problems. Central Park Karen was taught about racism. She never lived what she was taught. What she has is a thin veneer, easily penetrated.

He looted his charity fund and he was proven to have done it. He also has scammed the hell out of many a small business owner and he defrauded the good people that paid for Trump University. None of that bothers you.

The argument (both sides do it) only ever seems to be made around here when a Republican is unabashedly guilty of something. Never otherwise.

I do agree. However. What will happen when another group, also armed comes into that neighborhood? Maybe it won't and that is good but who knows? Also those patrol people better be well trained and disciplined before they start shooting some people operating within the law.
I would maybe look into a more restrained kind of approach. have the same armed folks but have them stay within their homes to protect them and their families and property. And have an unarmed patrol scouting things.

Very True. A bastion of deranged DiCaros.

Yes, lets defend them because a drugged-up asshole who should really only represent drugged-up assholes (of all colors) acted like a fuckwad when he got pinched. A sane, non drug-addled person realizes when the tables are turned against them and acts accordingly (don't do anything stupid to put the cop(s) in fear for their lives, get a lawyer, and have your day in court) and does not exacerbate a bunch of armed policemen.

The more we defend people acting like this, the more it will be encouraged.
