This is what I was trying to get at with the Tupac lyric above. I think this also came up before - the idea of police picking on easy targets, whether or black or white or whatever. Welfare abuse is true but corporate tax evasion is far more detrimental to the country. But if you were to add up all the times most everyone has criticized welfare abuse vs corporate tax evasion, you'd find that we're disproportionately focused on the smaller problem of welfare abuse vs the larger corporate tax issue. Why is that? Much like booking a dude for selling weed (if it's between adults, who cares?), it's just easier and simpler to do. This isn't obviously an apples to apples thing because it's not the police's job to police corporate tax evasion, but perhaps there is some truth to the sentiment that poor and minority communities are easier to "pick on," which is why some of these communities have antagonistic relationships with law enforcement.

Chauvin obviously has his own issues (his actions, especially with cameras rolling right in his face, were markedly callous, probably borderline psychotic, and made the situation much worse than it had to be), but why is nobody asking what happened to get to the point where Floyd had to have 4 guys subduing him in the street? That simply - and I mean it when I say "simply", because it really is that simple - does not happen to the average black person (i.e. a person who is not fucked-up on drugs and who is lawfully conducting themselves).

Why is it lost that the average black person does not typically act like Floyd?

Instead, everybody who is defending him wants to act like their lives are similar to his.

I highly doubt it in the majority of cases. If people suffer stigmatizing treatment, it is because of bad eggs like this guy fucking it up for good people.

Yeah I watched enough coverage to see that there were all sorts of races involved in both the protests and looting. It is quite a trope to say it is outsiders when it is obvious that it is hyper local. It is happening in every major city. There is no need to go to the Twin Cities when you can get in on the action closer to home.

These politicians should stop making excuses and just condemn the violence and find a way to reduce it.
