I feel it is more incompetence and self preservation. JB is a Dem and will have the job as long as Madigan likes him. Lori protected the people who got her elected.

Of course. They know they're secure in their positions, nobody will ever vote them out.

That's why they can do this. Keep you guys locked up in your houses longer than anywhere else in the country and now they refuse to call in the National Guard to put an end to this the way it's been in Louisville, Austin, Minneapolis, Atlanta etc.

They want the crisis. They are using your suffering as Illinoisians to their political gain.

Oregon governor refused to send NG into Portland even after Trump's call

That is a more daring political maneuver. But I reckon Oregon has gotten even more infested with Californians than when I lived there.

That's not what the ME said, apparently there were no signs of asphyxia. But I don't know how differing autopsy reports are handled in court, nor do I know the qualifications of either person who performed the respective autopsies.

I think it makes it really hard to convict someone of acting with depravity causing homicide when you admit that their actions wouldn't kill most people.

It absolutely plays well in Wisconsin and Michigan, not to mention what may be a new battleground state in Minnesota.

Depending on how advanced his serious conditions were, it could be that it didn't require acts with "depraved indifference" or "unreasonable risk" created by the officer(s) to put him into cardiac arrest, and at the very least it could be very tough to prove that it was the unreasonable acts of the cop that put him into arrest. Hell, with some kinds of heart failure, the heart can just go into arrest on its own, hence the need for ICDs and their vest-born counterparts.

They don't refer to you as Litigation Notes for nothing!
Suffice it to say I've learned more than I thought I'd ever know about these kinds of conditions, and how potentially fragile you become when you have them.

IN DC as soon as the curfew went into effect the police of all sorts surrounded the people in Lafayette square and the arrests began, not letting anyone leave and shipping them out by the bus load

Nobody is saying that (maybe JLN is). Do you disagree that it will be an issue in the criminal trial?

The cop will make it an issue but that doesn't mean that it is a legitimate defense.

It was a wonderfully silly photo op, too. He walked between a gauntlet of cops and staff and then walked up the stairs to that famous church in DC and stood on the steps holding a Bible. The whole thing was filmed and it was . . . funny.

I wonder if he'd post them if those numbers favored his argument. I shoudn't be so cynical. I think was Zippy says gets to the point better (than me, not TP)....what about those who are pulled over for less serious offenses? How do they fare? I think that's the key here, as you pointed out before.
