Yeah the whole wearing masks thing seems like not such a good idea right now especially if the firing starts.

What book?

This is why there are nightly riots right now.

If people want the riots to go away, perhaps start addressing the corrupt entity we call police in this country

The rioting is about stealing. Protesting is about the police.

Keep burying your head in the sand and maybe one day you'll reach the point where you say enough and recognize the problem as well.

Is it too much to ask that police be held to the same standard as any other citizen in this country?

Apparently for many that's too big of an ask.

Yes it is.

Every other citizen isn't required to step into the breach every day. They have a duty heightened far beyond that of a normal citizen.

Just as an example: you want officers who stood by as Floyd laid there with a knee in his neck to be prosecuted. Should that apply to all the citizens who stood around watching. Should the Stoneman Douglas on site cop only be held to the requirements of the average citizen

Isn't there case law with that?

If it is there job to prevent crime, shouldn't they be held to that standard? I mean, if your house is burning and you call the fire dept to put it out, but they just come and watch it burn, that seems to be a problem. If someone is bleeding to death when taken to the hospital, and the doctor just watching him bleed out, that is a problem.

The police in this case were more than bystanders. They were active participants.

The more accurate comparison for GD to have used would be gang members who are with the killer at the time but didn't pull the trigger.

You are missing the point. Of course they have a duty and it is a duty far beyond that of the normal citizen. A balance to that enhanced duty is enhanced protection in carrying out that duty.

I think I could be on board for alteration of presumptions in their immunity. Should it be the same as a citizen? No.

You mean felony murder?

That requires that all of them conspired in advance with the possibility of the harm a reasonable result of the conspiracy.

by the way, as you Fuck 12, that rule isn't exactly deemed universally acceptable by society

Yes. I still await an answer to my post of yesterday or the day before. I wonder if anyone knows what black cops think about all of this. Particularly, I would imagine internal strife about the thin blue line. Or do they become one of them for lack of a better term?

I am not going to defend the police that stood by as I want them charged. Hypothetically though I can see a case where they say I knew this fucker was bat shit crazy and feared him shooting us if I did take him of Floyd's neck.

For all of those whose solution is V-O-T-E:

We have an african american county board president, mayor, state's attorney and police chief, and have (except for mayor) for at least half a decade. Baltimore not only had all of those but the offending officers were african american

It's depressing to think that even holding the seat of power and with political momentum, the solutions are still distant

I get you. I meant more the sergeants, LTs and uniformed black cops standing right next to the white ones.

That he was riling people up using bad data. And look at the result.

It seems like 3 out of 10,000 arrests of violent criminals who are black result in deaths. The number is 4 in 10,000 for white people. So the rally cry never should have been Black Lives Matter, it should have been demand better policing for all. We are all Americans together.

And it also should not have been this is hopeless. We are hopelessly racist. We can see what a lawless society looks like now. And while you my enjoy carrying a gun and being your own police it doesn't work as well for many people including some of the most marginalized people in society.

Cop at the beginning tells him to put his hands back (or up, not sure) while his partner is kneeling on his other arm. Same thing happens at the end of the video while his partner continues to punch him.

WTF is there to be skeptical about?
