Instead you ignored or denied them and are then shocked when otherwise peaceful people turn violent after peaceful measures didn't improve the situation.

This riot is on you.

We don't line up on every issue, but when you're right, you're right.

So riotiers and looters aren't to blame for their actions?

Really?

He's right that the riot was precipitated by a host of systemic problems, one of which is policing, yes. The country has given a whole lot of people reason to believe they have nothing left to lose: there's a pandemic so just stay home so maybe vulnerable people won't die, well, oops, they died anyway, also, you're all out of work and we don't really know what to do about that, either, and on top of that your life has no value to the state, which has been proven more and more crassly since Ferguson. People bent and bent and bent until they broke. It's not an excuse, it's an explanation.

You are calling for the deaths of 800,000 law enforcement officers many whom are black. So you can get out of here with your labeling and moral judgements. Held to the same accountability means nothing. What do you want a federal authority to review every police criminal case? I am certain you would just claim that was corrupt as well, but that is about the best you are going to get.

Obama and Holder were in charge when Ferguson happened. Do you think they didn't investigate? They did. And you can read the report here: https://www.justice.gov/sites/default/f ... rown_1.pdf

Hands up don't shoot did not happen.

The idea that police's actions justify killing people, ruining lives, looting and burning down the city is complete insanity.

There are times I think it may be over the line, but then another incident happens and I realize that my there may be no other way to force police to change.

Yeah, I'm far from being a police booster, but you haven't walked a mile in their shoes. And what's going on right now? You've got people committing mayhem. The cops are outnumbered by a lot. If you're that good at understanding the root causes™ of why people might act the way they are, I would think you would be better able to understand why a cop might act the way he does. He's a human being too, you know.

Asking for context is always wrong. Let's just believe whatever is seen in a 10 second clip and send out Ogie's hit squad to purify the officer in question.

Or let's just believe there had to be something else that happened to explain an officer's behavior. We can go all day doing this !

There were an Obama led federal investigation into Michael Brown that found the story originally told was a lie. So taking in the facts rather than firing up the lynch mob might be the lesson taken from that.

Freaking out every time there is an incident and acting like it's happening everyday has led to a complete breakdown of our society. Do you think that helps anyone?

I have friends and family members in law enforcement, I think we can all understand how difficult their mostly thankless jobs are. The same is true for most public servants.

We're constantly reminded that every cop isn't bad. That's completely accurate. The overwhelming are good men and women. Someone needs to inform cops that every poor resident of the city or state they're serving aren't criminals and shouldn't be treated as one. Someone needs to remind them that the overwhelming majority of those residents are also good boys, girls, men and women.

Residents in crime infested communities are constantly told that they should be courageous and turn in the criminals among them. When are the cops going to turn in the bad apples that wear blue? It's complete bullshit to say none or most of them aren't aware of the people who are corrupt.

Leaders should be the example for the people to follow. Not the other way around.
