call it in and keep driving in this 1/1,000,000 scenario. in my scenario it would be illegal for a cop to engage in law enforcement without a working body camera.
"Son, mommy was raped because the police body camera developer pushed a firmware update a little too soon." No matter what form it takes, this idea of yours sucks.

Go ahead and list one reason this idea is bad for the police? So far all you have is dick picks and we've already addressed that with bathroom mode.

also, as Brick said you can have a back up camera in the car to wear back to the station so problem solved in case the 1 in a billion scenario takes place.

You really think my law would punish a cop who's camera stops working mid scuffle? You really think that wouldnt' be take into account when drafting the law?

in that scenario the officer would be fired. Leaving the station with a broken back up camera is inexcusable. If only there was a way for officers to check to make sure their equipment was in working order before they start their shift??????

I'm sure they leave the station every day without making sure their weapons aren't in working order.

I already pointed out they have no problem doing this with firearms. Of course jln didn't address that.

I find it interesting that America's CPD buddies supposedly love the body cams and yet he's exerting all this energy defending not having them.

can the south suburbs be exempt? they cant even afford to fully staff their departments let alone have working cameras or even an IT department to manage it.

Right, what are we missing here? What possible downside is there to cops having their cameras on at all times? If anything it will protect the cops more often than the civilians.

This isn't really about the camera's, its about the vindictive and petty attitude people have. If shakes knew that the cops actually liked the cameras he wouldn't be proposing this.

1. Every unit has at least one backup camera? You've just doubled the cost of the camera program, and increased the cost of the upkeep on said program: More cameras in service, the more cameras that need to be rotated out for updates, damage, etc. Also, by introducing more cameras into the system, you've increased the amount you have to spend each time the camera models become unsupported.

2. With your draconian "in working order" enforcement, on top of the increased stress always-on cameras will introduce (which reduces the effectiveness of your officers), the rate of turnover for your officers is going to increase. This problem is mult-faceted because not only will you need to continue to pay the officers that you push out when they get their pensions, but you will reduce the applicant pool for officers who don't want to risk getting shot for getting fired because their camera didn't work. So you will eventually be pulling more officers more often from a shrinking pool of applicants, which will also reduce, probably greatly, your policing effectiveness. In the end, your total labor costs (including the cost of the pensions for officers pushed out by your new system) go up for a force with an ever-decreasing level of effectiveness.

There are 2 points with a handful of downsides each, off the top of my head. Your idea sucks, and you suck.

If you have read my posts in this thread, you would understand that I don't think it's unique to any ethnic groups. I believe lower class people are harassed daily because they are voiceless and I believe that people are profiled based on appearances. If you appear to be from an unacceptable class then you will probably be harassed.

You don't see an issue with parents suppressing the individuality of a child out of fear of the way government may perceive them?

I believe the "on" switch is up high.

A male Chicago cop who was sexually assaulting a male patient with a mental illness was caught because he accidentally turned his body camera on while giving the guy head recently.

You could probably pay for all the cameras for 10 years if it avoided one wrongful death suit by police in Chicago.

He has. You were coming up with laughably stupid But What If's and he answered every single one of them. You had no rebuttal so you were left with "this isnt about the cameras" even tho it's the only subject we've been discussing for 2 pages now.

I don't have fantasies of killing cops, or anyone else. I just don't have any respect for them, and that's 100% due to their collective actions.

You're losing steam and flailing today pal. Retreat, regroup, and counter attack.

call it in and keep driving in this 1/1,000,000 scenario. in my scenario it would be illegal for a cop to engage in law enforcement without a working body camera.

1. I doubt the cameras are that expensive. Cops have no problem spending money on new tech, I don't think a few cameras are going to break the bank. And if we can give every American stimulus and every small business free PPP then I'm sure we can afford some cameras as well.

2. This is all just some BS theory you shit out of your mouth that has no basis in fact

3. Go fuck yourself

You could probably pay for all the cameras for 10 years if it avoided one wrongful death suit by police in Chicago.
I think you underestimate the cost of these programs annually. Also remember I'm not arguing to forego cameras completely, I'm just arguing against doubling the size of any given program to comply with shakes' incredibly exacting demands.

The best your big brain could come up with is "I don't think cameras cost much" and "I don't believe you"? Great job, shakes, you're winning!

alright, breaks over. I gotta do some actual real world lawyering instead of message board lawyering.
