AMC not going to reopen. Largest theater chain in the country. Looks like Streaming services and Rona killed going to the show. No more seeing a film the way it was ment to be wall to wall with Dolby.

My mom used to tell me about walking to the theater in her neighborhood in the 40s to watch newsreels before the movie. That was new technology.

I bet the AMC senior managers will all get paid.

Streaming hasn't hurt that much. The box office for the last 10+ years has been very consistent at around $11 billion per year. I think streaming is hurting networks and cable channels the most. When I sit down to watch TV, the first thing I go to now is Netflix or Amazon Prime, or On Demand. (With no sports currently, of course.)

The straight to streaming is great.

We bought the new Scooby Doo for the kids last night. It was expensive, $25...but going to the theater would have cost $100.

Cinemas won't disappear. Many movies are just too cool on the big screen.

We bought it, didn't rent it. On Prime.

We can watch it forever...

I watched about half.

The kids approved.

The best thing that could happen to the cinema industry is AMC going kaput.

This. Especially IMAX.

We did the same the day it came out...my kids are obsessed with Scooby. I think they've watched it close to a dozen times in the last 2-3 weeks.
