While this board can be hilarious and sometimes a little to crazy for this middle aged pretty boring guy, what is the endgame of the protests? All I hear is vague terms. In my opinion in a few months nothing will have changed, except the damage to business owners becauses of the thin margins they were on from COVID and now this.

Tea Party- no end game for they were hypocrites, look at the national deficit.

Race Protests after COVID - The hypocrisy, you think it cannot go any higher, it just keeps going. I know and I know probably many on here have delt with the passing of loved ones. Funerals limited to certain amouont of people during COVID.
Now 1000s of people in the streets and that is ok? This is still going on for funerals in the state of IL.

I have never seen such hypocrisy in my life. A little over a week ago people were being arrested for going to work, but thousands of people protesting together is okay? I am not talking a bout the looters, there is a difference. I am for the protests, but why not call off all social distancing, phases, etc.

I carefully listened ot Drew Brees minute long talk on the flag. He literally checked every box and on ESPN the headline is basically Drew Brees is a racist.

The cops were arreste and I dont know a soul who is in favor of the cops. Racism is real, its horrible. We have a long way to go, but we have improved and need to keep improving.

Again what is the end game to all of this?

From Trump, to the media, Governors, Mayors, i dont think anyone knows.

I think it just fizzles out for there is no end game.

Oh wait I know one, VOTE!!!!! November will be interesting. If people dont vote, this is all for nothing and how weird and hypocritical this all is.

I remember hearing Parkins and others like him saying it was selfish to go to a 1/4 filled stadium do to COVID, but okay to protest, sweating and yelling with thousands of people not selfish?

Will we look back at this time in history and see a change? I just dont know or know of one except voting in November.

There is no endgame, dont you get that's kind of the point? If you set unambiguous goals its not very difficult for the government to meet them halfway. But, if you set the standard as something as controlling and obviously unrealistic as this https://insidethekandidish.wordpress.co ... a8vThmiwi0 ... well then you can complain forever.

Peaceful protests did not work.
Violence brought attention.
Without buildings burning we are not talking about this.
I am responsible too. I didn't see it two weeks ago like I see it now.

the headline on fox news the past week has been-

BREAKING: VIOLENT RIOTERS BATTLE POLICE

the headline on MSNBC and others has been-

BREAKING: POLICE PROVOKE PEACEFUL PROTESTS INTO VIOLENCE

i think that pretty much sums up all of our political problems right now.

I am truly disappointed that Brees apologized. He had nothing to apologize for. And if you are going to start something and say what you want to say then stick up for yourself and your belief. That is part of the problem with the world today. Someone says something. Some one else doesn't like it and calls them a name like "racist" and the first person gets some advice that they better apologize or they will be thought ill of.

A bunch of us were talking yesterday after golf about the NFL and the issue of Brees. A fellow vet friend of mine who is a huge football fan, said that he is done with watching the NFL because of the BLM and "kneeling" shit happening. I said that I was probably going to quit watching also. ANother guy, a retired black cop, argued that this wasn't pointed against the flag and the country and a pretty good argument ensued. A retired fireman, a white guy said that these NFL protestors were wrong and it got pretty heated before it was over.

To me, right now, the bad guys are winning in this country. The Soros backed Antifa anarchists, Black Lives Matter, and these Boogoloo bastards are winning along with the media who want chaos to occur. The evil that is the media and people like Soros need to be fought one way or the other.

the endgame is to reduce overpolicing generally and in particularly in relation to the african american community

If you don't think police forces across this country have become more militarized in the past 15 years then you aren't paying attention. That isn't even opinion.

I think that the burning, looting, murders of cops, etc. has probably ended peaceful progress in race relations in this country forever. The chaos stopped people's sorrow a lot of people's sorrow over the death of that guy in Minnesota and changed the message to one of fear of organized terrorists within the US.

I wonder how many hand guns, rifles, and shotguns have been sold this last week? I'd say thousands and thousands. People are going to take the law into their own hands and I cannot blame them. Watching that family in Cleveland defend their bakery from looters and arsonists yesterday told me everything about what people are really going to do. Those people were ready to shoot anyone who came into their bakery. They were scared and it showed and scared people do shoot out of fear most of the time I believe.

Anyone who is closed off to the message and request because of the looting is an easily confused fool who probably has no effect on the discussion anyway. The macro level issue of reform is easily bifurcated from the micro issue of looting. I can chew gum and walk at the same time

The looters and arsonists are simply one thing. Looters and arsonists who have committed felonies and deserve to go to prison. Looking for something other than that in the actions of people who are looting and burning as well as murdering police, beating up shop owners is nothing but bullshit propaganda spewed by people who look for some excuse for the criminal actions that these vile people do.

And when I hear the words, "peaceful protestors" when describing these hate mongers on the streets, I have to hurl. Get the hell off of the streets and actually do something positive to improve the world not defile it.

I'll go one better with you, even if every single person protesting also became a looter, it doesn't alter the truth of the original message.

There is no excuse for arson and looting. These are two separate things entirely. I'm with that family in Cleveland defending their bakery. their entire business would have been gone. They are 3 generation bakers and a mob came for their bakery. I want to believe that most people who were against those cops who killed that man in Minneapolis were also against looting and burning out that bakery. Why? because I believe most people are good and moral people. But there is a loony toons segment of society that is hate filled and evil. BLM, Antifa, and these other organizations are bad people and need to be stopped not matter if that takes killing them or not.

Now I've seen that the fellow squad members of the two cops in Buffalo who got fired for pushing that law breaker(yeah LAWBREAKER) have all resigned in support of those two cops. Good for them. Give the protestors what they want, total chaos and watch those politicians cry when their places are torched and ransacked.
That fool got lightly pushed by a cop because he got in the cops face and was lightly pushed when he fell like the 6'8" fool that he was. You are going to fire two cops for that? What a sissy these assholes in charge of New York are.

Is the end game of this to get attention? OK, there's attention. Let's go back to normal now.

Kids walking out of their schools to protest school shootings. Were you not aware school shootings happen in the US? Did it raise the level of awareness? Was that the goal? If so, mission complete.

Out of the groups participating, maybe 10% of them are really passionate about getting actionable change done, maybe another 20% will do stuff from time to time if it fits with their schedule, and the other 70% are more or less along for the ride because they get to steal stuff or break stuff or skip class.

If you want to affect action, you need to get a larger base interested in influencing those that can make a change. These events are little blips on the radar that don't accomplish much in the grand scheme of things.

I like what the cops in Buffalo did to support the cop who shoved that 8 foot tall asshole who tried to block them and gave the asshole a little owie
when he tripped over his feet and hit his head. They quit after the mayor fired him. Maybe police ought to all quit when their leadership doesn't do their job. Hell with these Dem. mayors and police boards. One city(don't remember which one) ordered anyone who was arrested during those riots in their cities released without being charged. And this idiot city also ordered the cops to ENFORCE THE CURFEW???? Are you shitting me? They want to cops to somehow control the city but they need not arrest anyone for anything. What an ignorant bunch of political assholes these Dem officials are.

If I were a cop on duty under that order, I'd sit my ass on a chair and do nothing. Fuck the leadership in Chicago, New York, LA, Buffalo, St. Louis, et al. If I am a cop and the mayor tells me to stop the protestors from breaking the law I'd have to say, YOU FIRST.

If that were the end game the program wouldn't be called Black Lives Matter. Look at Kaepernick. It started with the police. Then it was Betsy Ross shoes are racist and need to be taken off the shelves. It's about a lot more than law enforcement.

Went to dinner last night with another couple. Jack and Sally are the most mild mannered people you could imagine. Great Catholic couple. Raised four great kids. So Jack and I were talking about what went on this week including our city including the protests and riots. So Jack says matter of factly that he got his guns out and cleaned them and made them accessible!! He said, I am not going to let anyone hurt me or my wife. He also said that he talked to a few neighbors on his block and they did the same.

My wife was shocked because I think that she thinks that I am pretty alone in how I feel and will react. I did the same thing this week including talking to a few of my neighbors about what might happen. I think that the leadership in the Dems has really misjudged the reaction of ordinary folks to this out of control violence in our cities. Its also interesting when I think about it because the people that I talked to on my block were a Korean, two Hispanics, and a black guy and a white guy. The notion that this is a white against black thing is bullshit.
