A buddy of mine got a dozen golf balls as a gag, they have a message that says "If found call XXX-XXX-XXXX" and it has his number. He was really proud of this. Of course he ended up losing them all within a few weeks. A few days ago me and another buddy decided to catfish him. The other guy texted him from a phone he doesn't know and said he found the ball. Told him he was a Glenview fireman and all the guys at the firehouse thought it was hilarious so he should stop by and pick up the golf ball. Our buddy got excited and told us that he was a Northbrook guy and not far from the firehouse. Then we decided to up the ante and told him that when he gets there as for Pyro (told him don't ask, it's an inside joke).

2 days later he took the bait and yesterday he actually went to the firehouse and asked for Pyro.


For some reason we can't explain he still doesn't suspect us. He sent us a copy of all his texts with the guy and thinks it was some stranger who found his ball and is fucking with him. So now we are debating about how to reveal that we did it. We're playing hockey together next Sunday so we might wait till then and just randomly call him Pyro on the ice till he figures it out. We might also just send him the entire text chain between us setting the whole thing up since he sent us the text chain today between him and "Pyro".


All in all, very happy with the prank. Wish I was able to see the interaction at the firehouse, but that would've required 24 hour surveillance or at least a drone and a guy in a van parked down the street. We're not quite there yet.


Not quite as good a prank as when my friends secretly painted my 77' Black Plymouth Phoenix. They tricked me into coming over and then none of them were there except one guy. He said everyone had to go pick something up and that we should hang for a bit. So we went for a ride where he got me super stoned for about 2 hours straight. Got back to the house and my car now had white doors and looked like old cop car. And it wasn't painted like a vandal did it. The windows and trim had all been taped up so they wouldn't get paint on them. They had some elaborate story and pinned it on vandals even though my car wsa the only one in the driveway that got painted. We ended up duct taping the number 54 on the door and from then on the car was known as Car 54. A year later I was out with one of my buddies and I noticed he had spots of white paint all over his pants. At that moment I knew it was him and he admitted it. Didn't get mad, it was too good a prank.

Its definitely not normal. Add in the fact that shakes said his friend was "proud" of this, and I imagine this guy has trouble getting child proof aspirin bottles open.
