Well there's classes of "trauma". Considering the worst thing that happens to most American white women in their lives is that once, maybe twice, they wont get exactly what they want. I am little less sympathetic to that.

How many classes of trauma are there? And why the sympathy for joining a profession where it is likely that you are going to deal with trauma? It's not as though it is a secret that being a police officer is going to involve dealing with nasty shit.

But they know they will encounter trauma going in. This is not a secret. It is basically in the job description. Why is everyone else a burrito for not knowing how to deal with stress, but cops get carte blanch to bitch and moan about stress even though they voluntarily decided to expose themselves to stress?

There is "stress" and then there is real "STRESS" that involves putting your life at risk dealing with some of the worst imaginable people in the world, namely the people who want to kill or hurt somebody else including the cop. Don't even go there marginalizing the shit that cops go through in their lives dealing with vermin and then having to deal with worst vermin, namely jerk-offs like Lightfoot, Garcetti, and DeBlowsio.

Are there bad cops? Hell yeah. Some of the biggest assholes that I have experienced in my life were cops. And the fact that guys like that POS in Minn. was kept on the cop roll is bad, very bad. But don't forget the fact that a lot more of these cops are valuable and good people who have big balls(including the lady cops) to do what they do.

Is that really hard for people to do? Can you not admire someone for having COURAGE that you yourself do not have? Does it lower someone to find a sympathetic eye for a cop who got shot or killed in the line of duty? What does it take out of you anyway? I think that if you can't find it in your heart to admire someone for bravery or sympathize for what happened to them, then perhaps it is you that has a problem with your set of values.

Frankly, I think a lot of people who diss cops are just basically cowards or jealous that the cop has courage. The cop BTW may be a personal asshole and not someone that you want as a friend. But I don't ask my friends to face off people trying to rob a store, rape a woman, or steal a car. I want a cop to take that on.

Look Spiral, the stress you went under waiting for HRT is a little different than processing a crime scene where a dad killed his whole family.

They knew the job would be stressful so they shouldn't be stressed out by anything they see or have done to them!

Ooh, is Florida now going to prosecute all the basketball and football players that keep vacation homes there so they can claim Florida residency for the income tax break, as well?

Most cops in this country never have to fire a weapon. Arriving to a scene where there's a dead body from an accident or in a home is as traumatic as it gets for most. Just like most firemen never have to run into a burning house. They all train for the extremely rare occasion they will encounter these things. The overwhelming majority of the public respect police and firemen too.

My very first post on the subject of trauma. America has sympathy for trauma cops face but not for anyone else as far as i can tell. Was wondering why that was.
