Depends on the income of the community. If you live in an affluent community, it's definitely the crime. If you don't, it's probably the cop.

The reason that poor communities are over policed is that politicians were accused of abandoning them. The crime bill that was used to smear Biden now is a part of it. There was a demand for additional policing because crime was terrible. What will pulling the cops out do? There is some evidence to suggest murders will spike again.

It's June and Chicago already has more homicides that in all of 2019.

Well. At least Chicago is leading in one category. Maybe if the alien disbands the cops, she can triple the homocides in her city.

Maybe, but it seems to me there is a whole movement that suggests America is irredeemably broken and must be replaced with something else, though nobody actually seems to know exactly what should replace it.

I'm not even saying they aren't right. I don't think they are, but I'm open to their suggestions if they actually have any that go beyond destruction. It's a lot easier to destroy a civilization than it is to build one.

I don't believe this is something that breaks down along racial or traditional political lines. This is strictly a youth movement. Joe Biden's handlers know he can't run on abolishing the police. These kids couldn't even manage to support Bernie at the ballot box when he looked ready to win the nomination. Most black people I know my age and even yours are pretty conservative in their values. I would say the same for Hispanics. That's why it's fantasy that the "browning of America" is going to lead to a Democratic monopoly, especially if the party is forced to adopt these outre positions.

I follow this guy on Twitter named Eric July. He's black and he's a libertarian. He's like some of the guys in my club who don't even think the government should be responsible for roads. That sounds pretty nutty to me. I'm pretty sure even FavreFan doesn't think that. But anyway, Eric July is a smart motherfucker. I've seen people attempt to ridicule him and he tears them apart every time. I'm far from being a libertarian myself, but I respect his viewpoint and his ability to express it.

He's talked a little about secession himself lately. I think he just believes that we would be better off allowing people who want extreme government control have it and those who don't could form their own state/nation. And there's no reason there has to be hostility. There could be trade and other cooperation between the parties.

Does anyone remember the last time part of the country tried to seperate itself from the Union?Does anyone think Trump would not do the same if not go more extreme than Lincoln did? Umplease look up Sherman's March to The Sea and see what that crazy bastard did.

My dad went through that in 1947. It was not peaceful. Lots of people were killed, including my grandfather (who was in the military).

I doubt that Mr. July would come out alive if a similar process happened today.

If they secede, they're not gonna have much of a military. This is ideological secession, not a a region. What's left would just take the part that seceded over and take all of their stuff.

Well, I think the secession could be mutual. We pretty much have two countries right now- the coasts and Chicago and then everything else. Instead of crying about the Electoral College and the Senate and attempting to circumvent the Consititution so that California and New York can force policy down the throats of Oklahoma and Utah, why not just shake hands and go their separate ways? No war is necessary.

Secession would be an unholy disaster, leave China to dominate the world, crash the US dollar and create to separate nuclear power that hate each other on an intertwined landmass. What could go wrong?

I thought seceding is traitorous—that anyone who tries to secede, successfully secedes, or joines up with another state to secede from the union is a traitor to our country. Isn't that what we're told every time the issue of confederate statues comes up, that they're all traitors?

At the end of the day we aren't breaking up the union over this. One side will win, the other othe will lose. It may seem like that will never happen when you look out on the world now, but eventually it will. And it may have a few twists and turns along the way.

It is traitorous and the Confederates were a bunch of traitors.
