He spent quite a bit of time talking about the fact that the Cubs did not have enough black people in places of leadership in their organization and that it was too easy just to pick someone that looks just like you.

I remember being at a game circa 05 (near the end of the dusty death spiral) and the Cubs were attempting a 9th inning rally down 1 or 2 runs with a runner on first or 2nd with 2 outs and outta nowhere PH neifi literally tried to bunt for a base hit outta nowhere.... And the result was an easy 5-3 boom boom boom let's go back to my room and cry in our beers over not using Jose Macias there!

Ross is going to be a revelation. He will get more from the core than Maddon was able to get. It will serve to confirm that Maddon should have been fired a year earlier, rather than letting him manage as the lamest of ducks.

By saying Ross will get more out of this club than Maddon did, you are declaring Ross will win at least two World Series with the Cubs, correct?

I am saying he will get better production from the players than the past couple years, when many players performed at a level below that which might have reasonably been expected. The Cubs won the World series in 2016 in spite of Joe Madden and the horrible job he did managing the team in games 6 and 7 especially.

There was a similar brain fart (but reversed) around the same period when Mark Bellhorn took a grounder with one out in the 9th and the opponent had the winning run at third, and Bellhorn threw to first as the runner scored. “Yes!...no, no, NO!”
