It takes more "mental gymnastics" to parse the situation down to "sleeping=death".

The riots for this one will be spectacular because these cops were bad at their job but will not be convicted in a court.

They want you to believe the cops just executed him on his knees like Judge Dredd.

What's it cost now to get through the system on a DUI? This is why you have to keep 2 100 bills in your wallet. For occasions like this.

It's really not a racial issue, but I'm aware that some people can only view it through that lens. That forces them to choose "their" side. Not understanding that they or their family aren't exempt from the same thing just because of their skin color or because they defended them online.

If that tweet is how the masses are gonna view this case then whatever we saw after Floyd is going to be 10x worse. Fucking lazy and disingenuous narratives.

In a surprising twist, in her retelling of the events, Julie completely failed to mention that Brooks physically resisted arrest, grabbed at and took an officer's weapon, then assaulted the officers with it multiple times.

you seem to have some personal knowledge of law enforcement type stuff, would a taser even be effective against an officer wearing body armor? Maybe if they caught it on some exposed area.

From the vests I used to wear, it would stop a taser, but there is still a lot of exposed area on the upper body.

That one cop won't and shouldn't be fired. Neither can reasonably be charged with a crime.

The cop who shot Brooks was already fired. You know what will happen if that officer isn't charged.

They should abandon downtown and protection details for the mayor.

They can't reasonably justify charging him unless the goal is to inflict financial pain on him. I think what he did wasn't necessary, but definitely not anywhere near the Walter Scott level where it's criminal.

Maybe I will be wrong but in the current atmosphere I think they will be charged.

How could you possibly charge or fire the cop who didn't fire his weapon? How could you reasonably say that the cop who fired his weapon committed a crime?

To appease the mob.

Why is it illegal to be drunk in a parked car with the engine shut off? MADD's zero tolerance policy.
Sobriety checkpoints? MADD
Arrest of adults because their kid hosted an underage party? MADD

Now, I'm not saying this just to pick on MADD. There is over policing in many areas.

I dont think this will catch on, really. The race hustlers will try but this isn't going to get them anywhere. Very few actually believe he was killed for sleeping in his car.

But look at how hard people were trying in this thread to excuse Brooks' actions. You had people honestly saying that after taking a taser from an officer and assaulting them with it, the police should have just let the guy go.

People know that if they want to be left alone by the mob, they have to be One Of The Good Ones, and right now that means every use of force is unjustifiable.

He manhandled those two cops. See him just take that taser out of his hand like it was candy from a baby?
That guy should quit in embarrassment.

I think it's on the police to engage citizens in such a way as to avoid citizens feeling the need to resist.

it's like when you see parents whacking their kids. sure, that's one way to get the kid to behave. but shouldn't the parent/cop be able to navigate the situation without taking the shortcut of violence backed by authority

Any doubt left that politicians are in it for the donor's money should have been erased when they raised the bridges and said, "Just go attack the neighborhoods!"

That's probably an argument for not having women officers. It's more likely a suspect will try to overpower her, resulting in the need to use lethal force.

Because of your inability to see ANYTHING beyond your tiny world view, you believe that someone "excused" the actions of Brooks. Literally no one did that. It's possible to think that Brooks was wrong AND that he shouldn't have been shot in the back. It's also possible to think the cop who shot him was wrong, BUT he shouldn't be charged with a crime.

We saw a woman in Chicago fire her weapon at the back of a guy in a crowded CTA station because her and her partner weren't able to cuff him. I believe his crime was not buying a $2 ticket. People still thought it was reasonable.
