They should abandon downtown and protection details for the mayor.

Any doubt left that politicians are in it for the donor's money should have been erased when they raised the bridges and said, "Just go attack the neighborhoods!"

I still think that's the weirdest thing I have seen in a while. And then to have Lightfoot blame the cops in Rush's office....

It's not weird.

They told their voters.FUCK OFF.

We will let them take yours instead.

Eventually rules of engagement are going to change to as soon as a suspect resists, let him go.

They'll want the police to radio their supervisor when the suspect grabs their weapon and takes it from them.

i dont know why but when i see one of these activists on tv it really motivates me to go out there and join them in the protest or march. if they police attack me then so be it. its like the world finally is seeing the truth now that's been suppressed for all these decades.

I'd love to go but again I have two things as obstacles : 1.Physical health 2.I'm a big pussy.

DA Says there will be a manslaughter or murder charge at some point this week against at least one if not both officers.

So they're going to completely ruin two livelihoods to try to satiate the angry mob. A guy can assault you with the weapon he took off your partner and the DA is going to try to put you in jail for ending that threat. Why would anyone want to be a cop anymore after this?

That was handled poorly by the cops involved but I doubt they will get convicted.

You're telling on yourself when you have to resort to outright lying about what the guy did. You know what he did, and you know that what he did makes deadly force justifiable, but you can't allow yourself to be seen admitting to it.

Yeah, this was a case where the officer's life really was in danger. I don't think a jury would convict him.

If that's the case, then it is doubly stupid to try the guys. If they walk, do people protest (which is fine) and riot again? Not to mention what the media will make of it.

Chris Christie endorses the Camden model of dismantling police forces and remaking them into an entirely different organization.

Funny, I was told by others here that the Camden model didn't work...

When officers deploy a taser on an innocent person in a car, we're told not to worry because it's not lethal and citizens are not in mortal danger.

When a civilian gets the taser and aims it at the officer, we're told the officer feared for his life.

Which is it?

You didn't ask me, but I would err on the side of taser as lethal weapon. Electric shock to the heart could kill a lot of people.

I have to believe the police could have de-escalated the situation before shooting, but once you go for a cop's weapon, that's suicide-by-cop territory, sad to say. You can't de-escalate from there.

Because if a officer is hit by a taser, he could become incapacitated and the assailant can take his sidearm from him.

From abc7; The Chicago Sun-Times analyzed data, obtained through an information request, for the first five days of a curfew imposed May 30 and lifted June 7. The newspaper found 329 of the 440 people arrested were identified as African American. Duh?

Yeah, you can't steal a cops taser, point it at the cop and expect a good outcome. In an untrained hand the taser could kill someone, there is not chance at charges and I fully expect him to get his job back or be compensated.

Which is it?

A TALE OF TWO INCIDENTS by The Atlanta DA's Office and the Atlanta Mayor.

Incident 1) 5 Atlanta Police Officers fired last week for using a taser to remove two college students from a car. Officers were fired because the Atlanta District Attorney's Office deemed the Officer's use of the taser was DEADLY PHYSICAL FORCE.

Incident 2) A suspect who failed a field sobriety test and deemed Driving While Intoxicated resists arrest, fights with police, steals the officers taser (robbery) and escapes. During the pursuit, the suspect turns and fires the taser at the officer's head and was shot and eventually dies. The Atlanta mayor calls for the Officer to be fired because he used deadly physical force against a taser.

BURNING QUESTION: Why is using a taser considered Deadly Physical Force when it's used by a police officer but not Deadly Physical Force when used against a police officer by a suspect?
