There's data behind this argument. Camden's reforms, NYPD's walkout several years ago, etc.

Yup. Learn to code homie

All APD's officers will do is improve the lives of Atlantans by not doing their job. Remember when NYPD walked out 5 1/2 years ago and crime dropped?

The thing no one wants to admit is that police are fucking useless at preventing crime. Heck, we can make a good argument that their execution of the war on drugs has increased crime.

Hey at least if some drunk asshole falls asleep in a Wendy’s drive thru tonight they can go on their merry way when they wake up

Much better to shoot them. “They” probably deserved it. I’ll bet they’ll find something in their past to show they weren’t angels so move along...nothing to see here.

Well, those public spirited citizens of Atlanta really rallied to the BLM cause didn't they? A drunk asshole blocks a Wendy's driveway, customers complain and try to wake the drunk model citizen up and the manager of the place calls the police. The police "handle it" from there and the result to the business is that the terrorists burn down the business. So, the manager is probably going to lose his job for calling the cops because of pressure from BLM and other racist groups and somewhere around 10-15 people are going to lose their jobs because of a drunk asshole who decides to attack cops trying to arrest him. :eye: :eye: :eye: :eye:

Come on. "Data." All data, whether it is good or not, is interpreted.

Here's some data: A few weekends ago, cops stopped patrolling 79th Street and people tore it to hell.

When there's video if him, you know, pointing the weapon at the officer, I can't imagine there's that many people as disingenuous as you. Is the taser's status as a "weapon" also up to the jury now, too?

What DOES a jury do?
Apparently a lot! Something something...whether the facts give rise to an objectively reasonable belief that the officer's life or the life of another was threatened, something..reasonable officer something else?

I do not see that that cop would ever get a fair trial whatsoever based on the upheaval on the basic concept of justice right now in this country. It was obvious that the prosecutor in this case bowed to pressure to not only charge the cop with a crime but to charge him with first degree murder defies all logic and fairness under the law.

I doubt that the cops will go to prison for murder and I don't think he should. Is there a reason none of the other charges are being discussed? Is kicking a guy who is dying cool? Is standing on him cool?

One of the cop's bullets hit a car that had 3 people in it and the DA charged him with 4 crimes because of that.

Well here maybe why he was charged before the investigators made a recommendation. The DA is under investigation for corruption and in a run off election for his job.

ATLANTA — Fulton County’s long-time district attorney faces two separate state investigations, but it could be voters who remove him from office.

District Attorney Paul Howard came in second in the primary election for his seat on Tuesday, the worst election showing he’s had since taking office in 1997. He now advances to a runoff with Democratic challenger Fani Willis.

“What you will overwhelmingly see, is that the people of Fulton County, Georgia, they desperately want a change,” Willis said on Wednesday.

Willis once served as the chief assistant to the district attorney under Howard. Their runoff election is August 11.

She told Channel 2 investigative reporter Richard Belcher that she will spend the next two months reminding voters that the county’s top law enforcement official is under a criminal investigation.

Channel 2 and AJC reporters discovered that the city of Atlanta sent $250,000 to the district attorney’s office for crime prevention programs and almost 80 percent of that went into Howard’s paycheck.

Howard in May called the issue an “administrative matter” and said he expects to be exonerated.

“He does what is best for him and what the district attorney should do is what’s for the people. We see that in you stealing $195,000 from black and brown children,” Willis said.

Willis said she thinks he made the decision based on politics.

“You indict police really quick when its good for you, but when it’s not good for you, you wait for the news to die down. Why don’t you just do what’s right when it’s right,” Willis said.

Howard did not respond to requests from Belcher to talk about the election results and would not agree to meet with him, but instead said he would answer questions from another Channel 2 Action News reporter on Thursday.

Howard accepted more than $150,000 from a nonprofit associated with his office.

Based on the fact that he charged them with just about everything he could, I'm not surprised there was other politics involved. I think the police should be held accountable when they fuck up, but this felt like overkill.

camden replaced one police force with another non unionized, lower paid and non resident police force. I don't know how people who understand that the bigger issue in this country is income inequality haven't been all over this lionization of Camden.

They may have altered the way they policed but they policed.

Huzzah, we got better policing of the poorer community we created!

His being more Attorney than actual Attorneys is what has people riding him now. At some point it might be best to simply defer.

the scariest part about this is all the cops in Atlanta skipping work in protest. That shows you how many officers actually think this officer acted ok. Shows you how many officers are out there working under the same incorrect beliefs regarding how and when they are allowed to shoot people.

I think the fact we are not seeing riots, even with tensions at extreme levels due to the Floyd murder, tells you that the vast majority of people side with the police here.

I think most people are very aware that:
- There are more good cops than bad cops
- The actions we've seen by bad cops are completely unacceptable and should be prosecuted
- Policing as a whole is necessary and should be supported
- The protests are based in reason and justified. Some shit definitely needs to change

I completely agree. Once again we have a politically charged and controlled group that needs an enema and the chances of that truly happening are slim to none. It's the saddest aspect of this whole mess.

At the end of the day we're talking about a couple of cops so shitty at their job that they couldn't even restrain a guy 2v1 who was so hammered he fell asleep in the drive thru. Also couldn't stop the guy from taking their a taser right out of one of their hands. Also raises the question of whether you should even be attempting to unholster and use a taser while you are rolling around on the ground with a suspect and a co-worker. Couple of keystone cops. Also attempted no first aid on the guy unless you consider standing on him and kicking him to be first aid.

It's becoming quite clear from this incident, the other incidents and the reactions from other police officers that the entire training system for police is fucked beyond belief on an entire national level.

Yeah, a taser should never be used to control an unruly suspect in extreme close quarters, it's not even designed for that!
