Or he walks home, gets in another vehicle and plows into a family of 4, killing them all.

Just as there are too many people who think if you are "calm, cordial, cooperative, and jovial" for the first 41 minutes of a stop, whatever you do after that is mitigated by your previously peaceful demeanor.

I've actually grown a fondness for those who admit openly that they'd like to eliminate the police. It's much more honest than suggesting to keep police and require that they perform impossible tasks with no regard for their own lives.

very few people regard human life. Definitley no one in this incident. Cops obviously didn't as they were happy to fire a weapon in a crowded parking lot cause they were mad someone took their taser. And let's not let the victim off the hook either. He willingly drove his car so drunk that he passed out in line at the drive thru. Where is his regard for human life?

You have a problem with a drunk guy walking home with a deadly weapon?

They've got all his vitals, they could simply follow him at a safe distance.

There are already huge racial tensions.

Let cooler heads prevail.

If you can't handle that, then don't be a cop.
True, they couldve just waited to arrest him until the next time they were called to his house for beating his kids.

They knew who he was and probably where he lived pretty much from the start. I'm guessing their crack investigative skills would have resulted in his recapture.

Ok, so now they try to pick the guy up the next day and he's facing not only the DUI charge, but many years in jail for resisting arrest and assaulting cops with a deadly weapon. Is he really going peacefully at that point?

It's incredible that you are the only person in this country who has had a worse pandemic than Trump.

It's almost as if neither one of you are able to make logical conclusions or see things beyond your personal self interests.

The cops would have been safely out of Annie Oakley range and they could chuckle about where the guy could go and why it wouldn't matter.

Easy way not to get shot and killed . Just let the cops put the handcuffs on you .

This right here sums up the problem we have with police procedure in this country. There are way too many people who believe that once you do something bad during a stop all bets are off and the police are allowed to shoot you.

Youre right shakes. All the jovial Mr Brooks did was break away from police and start running and they shot him for it.

When the officer pulled his gun out of his holster and pointed it at the drunk, what was the drunk doing and where was he in relation to the officer?
When the officer pulled his gun, the assailant had just fired a taser shot at the officer from a distance of about 5 feet. When the officer aimed his gun at the assailant and fired, the assailant was still pointing his weapon at the pursuing officer and was anywhere from 15-20 feet. This is the second time this question has been answered for you with photographic evidence.

There was more than a murder charge. The "How dare you question a cop" people don't want to talk about them. Sad! Why did he kick the shit (maybe literally)out of a man who was dying?

Link to the audio . Taser is a deadly weapon under Georgia law but the officer had no reason to fear for his life when a taser is pointed at him . Ok Mr DA . Gg.

First of all it seems very likely they would arrest him in short order the same night (drunk, on foot and they knew where he lived). I'm also assuming there would be many more police involved in his arrest at that point. (on a side note it seems odd that there weren't more police at the scene since it had gone on so long). If they did wait until the next day he would no longer be drunk - which is likely why he reacted the way he did. Finally, I find your question a bit strange as it makes it seem like killing him at the scene is a better option than arresting him the next day - even if he's really angry.

Yeah the guy who had turned a DUI into a few felonies and was probably choking on his blood.

I think the question is whether we want to accept whatever problems he might cause in the interim (hurting others). If he's running empty-handed, I am more open to that solution.

Because the supposed kick is obstructed in the wide angle by a vehicle, most likely.

Anybody know if the taser was fired once? More than once? How many times could it even be fired?

I've read those officers carry the X2 taser, which can be fired twice before needing to be "re-loaded". The county prosecutor claims the taser Brooks had was empty after the shot he fired at the pursuing officer, meaning that it was fired once during the melee on the ground. Watching the video I can't tell which officer's taser is being fired.

It was allegedly fired twice and could not be fired again. I'm not sure if that is just a report or an established fact however.

Well, the cops involved better have known.

If it was spent, it is no longer a weapon. Making the shooting in the back even more egregious.

I'm going to walk over to federal plaza for a rally created by the federal and civil rights bar. They intend to present a very clear list of demands:

1. Raise the contingency fee rates on civil rights defense cases
2. make it easier to sue the government for damages
3. use a small percentage of the fees to promote justice

No, they shouldn't have. Real life isn't a movie, you don't count the shots of the bad guys. You try to not get hit by whatever they're shooting at you.

This is rocket science and it isn't Dirty Harry... It's counting to 2.

Even simpler, it's counting to 1 twice.

It is completely unreasonable to expect an officer to be able to count the number of a times a taser not under his control was fired during a violent scrum which later included him getting shot at. I'd be happy to wail on your face while you try to keep an eye and ear out for BRogue firing a shot from his taser, then have you try to decide whether he's empty after he fires it at your face from 5 feet away.

The state's got to meet their burden so everyone should kindly STFU until the trial is over.

One of the few things you’ve said that I agree with . I think the DA is going to get pantsed in this case and Atlanta will look like it did in Gone With the Wind after Sherman..... oh wait , nvm.
