some claiming a suspicious amount of fireworks being set off

Started here about 2 weeks ago.

cough cough...contrails....cough cough

No way that is someone doing it in their backyard. That was a professional display. Probably from years prior. Some people just need to complain about fireworks.
I have no idea why Illinois won’t allow fireworks. The amount of money that crosses over the border into Indiana and Wisconsin for this stuff is crazy and it seems like they are not just blown off on the 4th anymore. I hear some in the neighborhood probably nine months out of the year.

Never minded them too much only worry about people setting them off during a drought. One of our kind of neighbors puts on a lot of the shows out here so we get periodic tests throughout year but usually not sustained. I’m always out in Missouri/Nebraska area this time of year and consider picking some up. Had fun when I was a kid and still have all of my fingers of not all of my hearing.

Fireworks are fine.

100% agree. My one dog has PTSD because of it. A couple people down the street will set shit off that rattles every window in the neighborhood. I could deal with it on the 4th, or even the week of the 4th, but it will be 7pm on some random Tuesday in June and an explosion goes off so loud that you swear someones house just blew up. More than just a small part of me hopes every time that their house did just blow up.....

I’d be OK with them if the participants limited their activity to the week surrounding the 4th. People lighting them a month in advance just because they have acquired a stash and can’t resist are annoying as hell and I’d love to see them fined.

Look, I get they suck when it wakes up your kids, it fucks up your dogs, and it brain melts PTSD vets. Everybody knows that and nobody's going to stop firing them off, so maybe don't post on Facebook about it every time you hear one.

I like a good fireworks show as much as anyone, but have to admit I don't really get the thrill of amateur fireworks. They blow them off all night in the park behind my house. It's not something I'm going to get too upset about. People are getting shot and stores are being looted. I'm not really going to call the cops about some shithead blowing off Roman candles in my backyard. But if a guy blows his fucking hand off or puts out his own eye I'm not gonna feel bad about it.

Nope. I lived in an apartment near the Cell where I could watch them for three years and went to a few games each season with my sons until 4-5 years ago. And jackasses behind my home are shooting off fireworks now. Boredom turned into no interest, couple that with idiots 7 months out of the year and now I hate them.

Still not old enough to find fireworks annoying, but they've never really been my thing. I find them relatively easy to tune out if I'm inside watching tv or listening to music.

Then again, I've never had neighbors be such assholes about it that my house and windows were rattling. If that's not hyperbole I could see that being pretty annoying.
