I guess.

This was supposed to be a development year for Sox talent on both the major and minor levels. In many ways, this has been as destructive to the Sox as any team.

So happy to celebrate in November under strict shelter-in-place rules.

I’ll be happy if they get through the season, my team winning would just be a bonus.

Not really. 60 games does not a season make.

The Blackhawks won in a shortened season. It doesn’t get brought up much in talking about the team’s three recent Cups.

As long as the team that wins seems worthy, meaning they were really good, I think they will be celebrated as a legit winner. Now if some .500 team win after beating a few injury plagued teams in the playoffs, then I think folks will discount it.

Before Ariza's baby momma bitched him out of bubble, thought Trailblazers with Lillard, McCollum, Collins/Nurkic both back, Whiteside playing better, Anthony providing a 3rd scoring option could be a sleeper pick to come out of the West. But no Ariza and Rodney Hood already sitting out rehabbing his achilles injury, Trailblazers lack a reliable small forward/wing perimeter defender. Gary Trent Jr's a possible fill-in, but he's, what, a 2nd year player? Tayshaun Prince was a 2nd year, iirc, when he gave Kobe grief in the 2004 Finals. But Prince played 4 years at Kentucky before going pro.

It'll be more relevant than the Cubs title in 2016.

It will still be a Championship.

Very few people, if any, mention the shortened season when the Blackhawks won or the Spurs won it all.

120...if you want to make baseball exciting again.

If sports was a refrigerator and you open it up, baseball is mayonnaise. It's always in there, mostly unused.

Baseball is my favorite sport, but it's dying. It's obsolete. It's boxing. It's horse racing.

You have a pitcher on the mound with stick um on his hat and only two pitches, throwing to a guy on steroids who's stealing signs, trying to get a walk or a homerun, but most likely, he'll strike out. There are 8 guys in the bullpen ready to come in.

I'm not as concerned about number of games as I am start and end date of season.
The season should not begin any earlier than the first weekend of May with it concluding sometime around Labor Day (early September). Add a month for playoffs and baseball should be finished in early October.
If you do the math that's about 18 or 19 weeks. Play 6 games a week and now it's pretty tough to make it a 120 game season....especially if you include an all-star break.

Baseball in snow and / or 40 degrees is complete nonsense. But.....the owners and power that be have proven they can't but help get in their own way.

Forget championship. Every fan of a team that makes the playoffs will be just as excited as if they had played 162. The fans of teams that don't make the playoffs will use the short season to make themselves feel better.

I think the short season will be fun. A fluky 7 or 8 game win streak and a team will be sitting pretty. 33-27 makes playoffs?

The giant * on all of this is I don't think they'll get through the season. It seems inevitable that teams will have 2,3,7,8, or more positive cases. Do they go "next man up", or do things get shut down.

I would be excited and it would count to me. This is a year any team has an opportunity to make the playoffs and win the World Series. Not sure the last time this has been true.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some amazing rookie seasons, where they don't get to the point of hitting a rookie wall.

Same for some old guys. They can turn back the clock for a few months.

Gary Gaetti would have won the MVP for the Cubs in 1998 if the season was only 60 games.

Exactly why 60 games are a joke.

I think they go next man up? Aren't they requiring teams to put a list together of 60 guys?

I'm giving it a chance. Look at it this way. Everybody is tied for 1st with only 60 games left.

think of how many ultimately bad teams have been able to hang around .500 through the first two months before falling off a cliff

My guess is some objectively bad team is going to make the wild card and several will stay in the hunt.
