I guess the "summer of love" is now over in Seattle. Taking the walls down as we speak.

What are they gonna do to "dismantle" it? They're too afraid to do anything.

This should have never been indulged and the mayor should be voted out of office.

I demand that all statues of Raz Simone and the rest of his confederates be removed and he be tried as a traitor

These people are going to continue to vote the same way. Nothing is going to change.

The mayor proved to have zero leadership whatsoever.

She will be destroyed in her next election.

she'll probably get re-elected. or replaced with someone just as bad or worse.

I use to not buy the republican argument about democratic run cities are decades of failure but after this month, i'm more open to the idea.

but that' doesn't mean a republican would run a city better or worse. i guess we will never know.

The U.S. should just grant CHOP independence and set up Customs on its borders. Force the residents to renounce their U.S. citizenship. CHOP would end in a day.

You know CHOP was shortlived once their first town hall erupted into a heated debate about whether white printing paper was insensitive to minorities.

When did this go from CHAZ to CHOP? Or is it two different places?

I feel older every day.

Good to see the government stepping in and stopping American citizens from standing up to the government.

Grant them independence and then declare war on them.

It isn't trolling to point out that the reality of an armed citizenry standing up and making their stand against the government isn't nearly as cool as the constant talk about how the second amendment protects "us" from government overreach.

But, I guess saying "He's trolling" is easier than making a response to the point.

Where is the overreach with regard to the "citizens" of CHOP?

There's also a lot of moral confusion regarding bearing arms. The guys that showed up at the Michigan capitol were armed, exercising their rights. There's no problem with a guy in Seattle exercising his right to bear arms. When he uses those arms to shut down taxpayer funded streets and limit the movement of his fellow citizens it becomes a problem.

I'm not sure you understand who is overreaching here.

So does the militia standing up to government tyranny have to stay on private property?

First, I would suggest there has to actually be government overreach. What rights of the CHOP "protesters" do you think the government is infringing upon? Their "right" to free college? Their "right" to unilaterally decide which statues are in the public square?

If you're going to come back with some response about what occurred in Malheur, I'll tell you right now that there's a legitimate Constitutional question regarding land ownership by the federal government and there is a long established tradition of free grazing in the western part of the country.

But look, as was pointed out above, you don't don't really believe the CHOP people have any legitimate grievance that requires an armed revolt. You are trolling. And that's cool. What would the board be without a little trolling.

It was argued on here that the prohibition on restaurants and bars being opened was a violation of peaceful assembly. It was argued that banning large scale church services was a violation of freedom of religion. I think we've already set the bar on "rights" being violated. If these protesters had been tear gassed while not committing crimes or violence then I'd say they have the same rights violated that a person who couldn't go to a bar did.

Then take it to court and win. I'm sure the people of CHOP also believe there are Constitutional questions about how the government uses police.

That brings up another interesting discussion. If you believe that your Constitutional rights are being violated do you have the right to fight it with violence? You seem to be saying that the grazing rights issue is worth it. What about other people who feel their rights are being violated?

I'm not trolling. You just can't pick and choose. The people in CHOP had the exact same rights to a revolt that guys in cowboy hats do.

The constitution predates the idea of municipal police about thirty years. To address the constitutionality of police would be like addressing the constitutionality of nuclear weapons.

The fact that a third of the country is owned by the federal government is a much clearer violation of the spirit of the founding document.
