Teachers get praised sufficiently. I even gave an example of extraordinary praise few others get. Nas dismissed it out of hand. I'll give another example: in my neighborhood, every other block has a sign on it saying "a hero lives here" and the school at which the person teaches. They also have a pretty decent pay schedule. 79K median pay in CPS with other school districts much higher. Still, median CPS as an example: it would not be difficult to make enough to bring that into the 90s by working during the summer, and there is ample summer work for teachers including tutoring, working camps, different summer schooling like driver's ed. I don't expect a teacher to be poor and the truth is that they are not.

It seems like you two believe that teachers should be untouched by criticism.

You are intentionally misrepresenting everything that I posted. I've NEVER said teachers shouldn't be criticized. In fact, I've said the opposite. I simply compared the view of teachers on this board and with the public with the view of cops and even firemen. I noted that there was a stark difference. I don't think that can be disputed.

When even a Chas can bash teachers and not receive pushback for it you know you're on to something.

I don't block people but there are plenty whose posts I barely gloss over. I assume others are like me. Then there are the posts that get lost when sandwiched between a pages long fight between two people. There are lots of legitimate reasons bad posts go unnoticed and unresponded to.

The mob came to Wisconsin, took down a statute of an abolitionist and beat the shit out of a Dem State Senator.

On Tuesday, people marched around downtown Madison frustrated after Johnson's arrest, according to CNN affiliate WKOW

Yeah, it can be disputed. You have an antiquated view of things. A lot of people are coming around to the fact that most cops are psychotic assholes. Most people still like teachers even if they bitch about them going on strike or having summer vacation or whatever.

Mississippi still must have to keep up some vestigial appearances of Southern hospitality. Arizona has no such legacy to uphold. Get off my property.

You said my views were outdated. My views are based on this board and a significant portion of society who believes that the police/military equal republican so they must defend them at all times. Teachers equal democrats so they should be ridiculed every chance you get.

That's not true at all though. There are plenty of conservatives who respect teachers, and plenty of leftists who respect cops, and that is true even on this board, so I don't know what your point is.

But like I said, most people are coming around to the idea that there is no such thing as a good cop so your point that cops are respected more than teachers is no longer true. Maybe it was 5 years ago, even then I doubt it, but it's certainly not true today.

It's disingenuous to deny the anti teacher anti education position of much of the Right.

Is it disingenuous to deny the anti cop position of much of the left?

There's a lot of both sides defending both occupations if you stray from the extremist bubble/rhetoric. Which goes back to my main point - you're either dishonest or uninformed if you think cops have a better public reputation than teachers do currently. I'd recommend coming out from under the rock and engaging with the public if you still think that.

Let's not forget that the libertarians want to literally murder all cops. I just want the bad ones held accountable when they fuck up.

Libertarians don’t want to murder cops(Ogie aside). Much like the gay marriage issue, we were way out ahead of the liberals on this one too. Just follow in our footsteps like you usually do. We’ll lead you liberals to progress kicking and screaming like always.

Yep. They were the ones leading the Charter School/Privatization of education movement. A movement strictly designed to bust teacher unions.

I have never thought of it that way, although the two groups largely vote along those lines. As a big city resident I look at both as public sector union members and therefore tied to democrats.
