Agreed times two. This whole season is essentially an extended fill-in role. They need to try and do better next year.

How about a TV/radio simulcast:

1-3: Jason and Stone
4-6: DJ and Stone
7-9: Jason and DJ

Incidentally, did you see that Oakland isn't even going to have free over-the-air radio anymore, just streaming? Do you think that's next for the Sox? I really, really hope not. AM radio may be dying, but baseball belongs on the actual radio.

I still enjoy baseball on the radio. I posted earlier in this thread that I listen to a few games Andy called as I was driving around last season. It was still fun, it was still baseball.

For the record as a Sox fan, I have no issue admitting Pat Hughes is a very good PBP radio voice. I've said this before....his only flaw is his exaggerated pronunciation of COHNtreras and other names. it's a bit...it's stupid. There are plenty of heated moments where he proves out it is a bit and says it like every other person on the planet. That's a small flaw that I'd happily live with, as every other portion of his call is very very good.

I hope that Masur is good. It certainly could have been a much worse selection.
I'm fine with Benetti. Steve Stone act grew tired a long time ago, I wouldn't lose any sleep over him being gone.
I'm one of the few people that actually like Darrin Jackson. I thought the "UH OHHHHH" home run call was hysterical.

Hughes is great, but he had a worse WS game 7 than Maddon with his “delirious schoolboy” victory call.

Hughes was great. He's become too smug. Kicking Grote out of the booth was an example. He also misses a lot more in game action. Hopefully he will retire soon. He's had a good run, but it's over.

Yes....I've heard more non-game interviews with Hughes than I'd care to admit. The dude doesn't come off as someone you'd like to meet....seems kinda like a crotchety version of Chip Caray.

I think that the length of the disappearance and taking some Monday night games off has to do with the vocal cord problems he had a few years ago.
