Kaepernick did exactly what you are proposing that the NBA do now and you still bashed him for it. WYC?
Pretty sure I always defended Karpernick's right to protest.

If that were actually true then you'd be here in defense of their right to not protest.
They don't have a right to not be labeled as frauds when they only stay woke when it is personally advantageous to them.

They aren't obligated to speak out on every injustice simply because they spoke out on police brutality a few times.

They aren't a Civil Rights organization. They are a basketball league. If they were truly concerned about human rights abuses they had a number of years to express it.

You're only mad because they spoke out against the police force in this country. That's it.

Funny how all of a sudden the Woke Bae League has simply "spoken out in police brutality a few times".

Funny how you (and not they)are the person who provided that particular name for them. They have never referred to themselves as the "Woke Bae League" so why should you?

Because I want to make fun of a sports league and its players that brand themselves around wokeness, especially when that league and those players are such blatant hypocritical frauds about their wokeness.

Even if the NBA just ignored China it'd be one thing. But they actively defend the PRC, that's just a step too far.

Great! You were recently made aware that the NBA is first and foremost a business. At least now you know I guess.

Yeah, and if I'm not doing it to get paid I deserve the same criticism.

They may have been instructed to pipe down about China. You see that Morey quickly did.

So what? That makes it worse.

No it doesn't. NBA is a business. It isn't a Civil Rights organization.

They can't pick and choose.

OK then this makes them a business that is in bed with a genocidal communist regime. What now?

If you're going to go tearing down statues of people from a hundred and fifty years ago because they were on the wrong side of history, what do we do about those on the wrong side of history now? Because if you think wearing an Ï Cant Breathe" shirt is going to make people a few decades from now forget about this China stuff, you've got another thing coming.

Do you think that they just became entangled with China? That "bed" was made 20 years ago. Vilifying the NBA for is also stupid since as a country we are in bed with China.

That Bed was made already. By this country.

As usual there was utter silence from the usual array of hypocrites when this particular heaping of praise was uttered.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump praised Chinese President Xi Jinping Saturday after the ruling Communist party announced it was eliminating the two-term limit for the presidency, paving the way for Xi to serve indefinitely, according to audio aired by CNN.

"He's now president for life, president for life. And he's great," Trump said, according to audio of excerpts of Trump's remarks at a closed-door fundraiser in Florida aired by CNN. "And look, he was able to do that. I think it's great. Maybe we'll have to give that a shot someday," Trump said to cheers and applause from supporters.

Do you agree that refusing to hold exhibitions in US states explicitly over a bathroom law but then holding exhibitions in China and saying the league hopes to find "mutual respect" with the Chinese government (which is continually denying the freedom of its own citizens and literally cleansing a certain sect of them) is hypocritical of the NBA?

Do you agree that it is hypocritical to constantly bash the NBA for its dealings with China while simultaneously providing a pass to Trump for similar dealings with China?

Not one word of indignation from the newly anointed moral authority types on here about any of this.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics ... story.html
Quote:
As the Trump administration initiates a possible trade war with China, the president’s businesses continue to benefit from partnerships involving the Chinese government, via state-backed companies and investors.

Chinese government-backed firms are slated to work on parts of two large developments — in Dubai and Indonesia — that will include Trump-branded properties.

The Trumps are the landlord to one of China’s top state-owned banks, which has occupied the 20th floor of Trump Tower in Manhattan since 2008. The bank’s lease is worth close to $2 million annually, according to industry estimates and a bank filing.

And despite the Trump administration’s focus on American manufacturing, assembly-line workers in China still produce blouses, shoes and handbags for the clothing line created by Trump’s daughter Ivanka, a White House adviser

What's hypocritical is your castigation of the NBA while providing a pass to Trump for it. Again. You will never criticize Trump about anything. You're the actual hypocrite.

As far as the NBA goes (And America) it didn't take Daryl Morey speaking about China for them to know that they were human rights violators. They have always known that and yet they still conducted business with them anyway.

It's also fair to say that you don't give a damn about human rights violations in China and never have. You only cite it as a reason to bash the NBA for being the "woke" league.

The league is going to paint "Black Lives Matter" on its courts for the remainder of the season because they want social justice to be a central part of the league itself. I guess just not justice for, you know, Chinese citizens, right? They want to preach about social justice so much and so often that a message to that end is going to be emblazoned on every playing surface in the league, but want to find "mutual respect" with the Chinese regime that is engaging in ethnic cleansing and denying human rights.

Donald Trump also wants to find "mutual respect" with the Chinese people as well and its perfectly fine as far as you are concerned.

I must have missed where the NBA's mission was to fight for all of the oppressed people of the world. From an "I can't breathe T- Shirt" to Whom exactly?Nelson Mandela.

Lastly you do not know exactly how people in the NBA have been effected by interactions with the police. Even if it may not have touched them personally it may have touched a family member or a friend.

Again as a nation we conduct business with China and have for the past 20-30 years. Their mass murder campaign has occurred throughout this particular period. We were comfortable with it as a country. Why hold the NBA to a standard that you aren't willing to hold the rest of the country to?

Adam Silver is a better leader than the president. You know it's bad when Trumpets are trying to compare business decisions with the tweets, policies and statements of the president. Next they'll be comparing how NBA shutting down with the guidance of the Trump administration. As BeerFan used to say, you really can't make this shit up.
