As dolphin said, you are equating society with government.

I live and work in the middle of the world. I raised our kids and do my job based upon a set of learned religious principles.

Like MOST people, none of that has anything to do with the government.

Government and society aren't the same. I never said they were. They are linked. If there was a state mandated religion we would be a more religious society. Our laws would be more based on religion than they are now.

You seem to be equating your own life with society. As you said there are 40k different Protestant denominations.

I don't want a state sponsored religion.

However, MANY of our laws are based upon shared Christian principles.

These two things peacefully co-existed here for the most part until 2010 or so.

They may not exist peacefully in the near future. And if so, that will be a detriment to all of us.

Is this a counter-argument to my point though that the United States lessened the role of religion in society to the benefit of society or an agreement with me about it?

are you equating society with government
Government is a major part of society. If a religion is controlling the government then how could it not have a larger impact on society as a whole than if the government operates separately from religion?

If Christianity was the state sponsored religion would the United States be more or less religious?

There are more than 40K different Protestant denominations.

Which one are you referring to?

They all suck

this is why I wonder why people ever post on social media. I'm not saying i agree with the guys posts i just mean in general, there are people out there who will try to ruin you for one dumb thought. People need to get off of social media ASAP and shut the fuck up and keep their stupid opinions to themselves. Social media tricks people into thinking other people give a fuck about what their opinions are. There is no up side to positing on social media.

I completely agree.....for quite some time, I've kept my FB page quite generic. I'm amazed at the number of my friends that take social media way too seriously and need to step away for a while.

i cant remember the last time I made a public post on Facebook, although I do belong in a couple closed groups where I actively post. I mostly look and occasionally throw a comment out there but for the most part I really dont get what motivates people to put themselves out there like that. I have been getting a kick out of the numerous "i dont usually get political on Facebook, but this time its gone too far" posts.

Unless you're looking to buy a couch or something mundane like that you should NEVER post anything on the internet with your name attached. Just dont do it. The relative anonymity provided by places like the CFMB or even gay-ass Reddit is pretty adequate to keep you safe while speaking your mind.

I think cancel culture is retarded, but its equally retarded to post on Facebook or any social media.

phrases if they havent been already will be canceled soon:

https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/06/us/racism-words-phrases-slavery-trnd/index.html

In computer technology
Master/slave: Tech engineers use these terms to describe components of software and hardware in which one process or device controls another.

Blacklist/whitelist: In tech, a blacklist refers to a directory of specific elements, such as email addresses, IP addresses or URLs, that are blocked. A whitelist, by contrast, is made up of elements that are allowed.

In the arts
Peanut gallery

In law
Grandfathered in: This legal term broadly refers to the "grandfather clause"

In everyday speech
Cakewalk: It's what we call an easy victory, or something that's easily accomplished.

Uppity: It's an epithet used by White people in the Jim Crow era to describe Black people they believed weren't showing them enough deference.

Blackball, black mark: The terms both imply wrongdoing. If you bear a black mark, you've done something that people hold against you. If you've been blackballed, you've been banned from joining an organization because of something you've done.

Sold down the river: While this phrase now refers to a devastating betrayal, its history is more fraught.

I remember my 8th grade history teacher at Leslie Lewis Elementary, Curtis Dorsey, complaining that Devil's Food cake was black and Angel Food cake was white/yellow. He was 40 years too early. My memory of Mr. Dorsey is a bit hazy after all these years, but think Rollo from Sanford and Son.

I'm Mr. Diversity and inclusion as I prefer chocolate / devil's food cake ONLY if it has white frosting...preferably cream cheese frosting.

Great article with lots of airtight arguments for eliminating certain words from use.

Quote:
"Master bedrooms" were more widely implemented in American homes after World War II, intended to give working parents a private space within their own homes, Trelora notes.

While it's unclear whether the term is rooted in American slavery on plantations, it evokes that history.

Now, because of its slavery-era connotations, some members of the real estate industry are now calling to retire the term "master."

Its unclear if the term is related to slavery, but let's overreact and stop using it anyway.

Quote:
Blacklist/whitelist: In tech, a blacklist refers to a directory of specific elements, such as email addresses, IP addresses or URLs, that are blocked. A whitelist, by contrast, is made up of elements that are allowed.

Though the origins of those terms don't appear to be directly connected to race, some argue that they reinforce notions that black=bad and white=good.

While the term does not appear to have any connection to race, someone will find it offensive if they try hard enough.
