The NBA and NBAPA care about human rights for people who look like they do.

That's fine but they should at least be honest about it.

I think they care more about growing the business. I imagine that I or anyone that I've ever done business with can pass a purity test.

This is nothing more than ANOTHER attempt to diminish a fight that players are having about things that impact their communities.

"What about the genocide in Africa LeBron?"

I'm not trying to diminish anything.

I get why NBA players care more about what happens in black communities than what happens in China. Especially because China equals money. But you kind of forfeit any moral high ground when you do.

So they aren't allowed to have an opinion on police brutality simply because they haven't spoken out against China.

You are. You're saying unless they speak out about everything nothing that they say really matters. It's another version of, "If they did THIS, I would support them." None of us can spend our time fighting EVERY battle.

One could argue that what is happening in China is objectively worse than what is happening here.

Regardless, I do not expect athletes or the NBA to serve as world police. I will not judge them for sitting out whichever battle they choose. As an American WASP, I can relate to sitting out fights that don't seem to directly affect me.

We're all guilty of it. Even if we think something is "wrong".

Not everything. They should speak out about places they gave direct relationships with though.

"one could argue"?

The Chinese government murders at least a few hundred thousand of their own people every year. Its not even comparable.

They did great with the virus. Only 84,000 infected and 4600 dead. They're doing better than tiny countries like Columbia. AMAZING! If only we had leadership like President Xi. Instead, we're stuck with Literally Hitler.

Good brainstorm sesh. I like that they threw "si se puede" in there to remind us that we're supposed to care about Hispanic people too, we sorta told 'em to fuck off after the Sanders campaign met its end. Guess they backed the wrong caballo.

That's from the Memphis strike. The Grizzlies crassly made a jersey out of it.

There's quite a difference between failing to mention something and then clamming up when confronted with the human rights abuses committed by the government you're getting cozy and doing business with, which is aggravated by the fact that you sing like a bird to deride domestic policies you find disagreeable.

I forgot, the Grizzlies also had a uniform inspired by the railings at the Lorraine Motel, the place where Martin Luther King was shot.

Some ideas shouldn't make it out of brainstorming.

And sometimes players will criticize police once in awhile. The NBA is about as apolitical as you can get.
