Donald Trump takes money from the Chinese Govt and did so well before he ran for President. Do you think that ever precluded guys such as JLN or Leotardo from voting for him? Do you think that they ever demanded that he divest from China?

As far as the players go they don't have an obligation to speak out against Chinese oppression just because they wear a black lives matter T Shirt.

They can do what they want but it undercuts their other messages.

Their message has always been undercut when it comes to China. It was undercut not only when they decided to market themselves to China it was also undercut more specifically when Yao Ming was drafted by the Rockets.

The Rockets and the NBA sold their collective souls in order for Yao Ming to play in the NBA. It was always understood and known that the Chinese Govt in essence owned him. They were quite comfortable with that particular arrangement too. It told me all that I needed to know about the integrity of the NBA.

I only take issue with those looking for an aha moment. They care neither for the NBA nor oppression in China so they are using this as a way of suggesting that NBA players "shut up and dribble". Personally I think that the NBA is the most progressive of the Sports leagues but that doesn't mean that they are necessarily progressive.

She's as big a piece of shit as her other opportunist hypocrites like Tom Cotton or the clown freshman senator from Missouri.

I ignore everything coming from them. They're useless clowns.

It's not just the players. The owners and Silver can end this tomorrow if they wanted to.

They have been in bed with China. When I was really, really in the classroom I would use Yao Ming and his situation as an example of how dictatorships and communism works.
Again people here are using this as a reason to tell NBA players to shut up and dribble. That's it.

Actually I don't. I don't think its hypocritical at all. They never claimed to be crusaders for all of the oppressed people of the world. If they had then yeah it would be hypocritical. They complained about the treatment of black people by police.

That's pretty much the definition of hypocritical that they choose who they should worry about based on how much money it would cost them.

Let me explain this in terms that even a stupid fuck such as yourself can comprehend Asstapper.

If you complain about the proliferation of transgenderism rights in society on this board but neglect to do so on your job (because it may cost you your job) does it make you a hypocrite?

Basketball players aren't politicians. They are businessmen. The made a business decision. The same sort of business decision that every sanctimonious person on here currently bashing them would have made if given the opportunity.

Why should the NBA have to explain its relationship with China? That's the point of this thread.

For the same reason WWE has to explain their relationship with Saudi Arabia.

If you talk about equality and inclusiveness and freedom but then take money from brutal dictatorships, you open yourself up to questions.

Now you can certainly ignore those questions like WWE does, but that doesn't make the questions invalid.

That isn't much of a reason. This country has borrowed Trillions of dollars from China. Its pathetically hypocritical to question anyone's "relationship" with China with this being the case. Trump borrowed $500 million himself and Supporters such as Jorr, JLN, Hawk, Two Buck Chuck, and others on here didn't so much as bat an eye. Today he still continues to conduct business with China even as he complains about the "evils" of China and not one of them says a word about it. Yet we are supposed to believe that they are being objective in their views on the NBA. Sure we are.

The only way that it can be hypocritical would be if they openly support the oppression of the Chinese Govt while criticizing police oppression.

That's not what they are doing.

See how they tried to silence Morey for that.

They made a business decision and it still wasn't a show of support for Chinese oppression

They asked him to pipe down for financial reasons. They aren't openly supporting the Chinese Government.
"Actively silencing criticism of a regime is not supporting it" is a whopper. Are you this stupid or this much of a liar when it comes to protecting your precious Woke Bae League?

Basketball players aren't politicians. They are businessmen. The made a business decision. The same sort of business decision that every sanctimonious person on here currently bashing them would have made if given the opportunity.

Kinda like Henry Ford making business decisions with the Nazis.

As a country we conduct business with China and have for years. The NBA isn't doing anything that we as a country have not promoted for years.

They certainly acted politically when they tried to silence Morrey's position on Hong Kong to try to save their relationship with China. You can try to couch it as purely a business decision all you want, doesn't make it true.

Has she come out and condemned the Trump 2020 NASCAR yet? Or is than exempt from “shut up and dribble”

Come to think of it, have any of our resident board “stick to sports” dipshits condemned it yet?

I noticed that you ducked my extremely relevant question. Shocking!

They silenced Morey in order to protect their business investment.

If this isn't the "true" reason then what is?

There are a lot of things you could fill in the blanks there that wouldn't get a pass.

As a country we conduct Trillions of dollars worth of business with China. They are the owners of more U.S. debt than any other nation in the world. Its hypocritical to expect the NBA to discontinue their business arrangement with China when we don't demand similar things of our Govt or our President.

And I've been against it for two decades. We're such whores that we just give away proprietary info and technology to them. That's only a recent thing along with Google doing their censoring for them, no charge.

The bigger narrative is China is part of the union busting in this country that both the left and the right participated in(IMO, the biggest reason for income inequality). Of course NBA players are small potatoes but they are still part of the problem...the 1 percenters. They are EXACTLY the same as Nike. Pressuring the Redskins on skin deep issues while employing slave labor.

 Because you've never classified criticism of critiques of, say, Donald Trump as outright support for him, right? You're the worst.

Like I said, perfect opportunity for Snyder. " I won't change the name unless Nike stops employing slave labor."
