That is why there's Volleyball, Cycling, and Running. I'd also mention Golf, but that's not really much of an athletic sport as it is a competitive activity.

and before the Golf junkies go berzerk...that's fully admitting that Golf is really fucking difficult.

I had been having a lot of lower back soreness. I was playing pick up basketball on Wednesdays nights in what was called the old men’s league. One night my back was pretty tight, and I couldn’t move well. I was sick of it. In any case, I knew it was over when one of the younger guys said he wanted to guard me. Never, of all things in my “career” did anyone ever want to guard me. I am hyper as all shit and never stop running on both sides of court.

I hung it up that night. The basketball world lost nothing but my shitty jump shot. I can’t even grab the rim anymore....

STOP!

I said the same thing at 45.

At least stop the basketball.

yeah, KD....that is pushing the envelope way too far. Leave basketball for the younger 20 somethings. Your ACL will eventually blow up on you.

MCL. I also have an arthritic right shoulder from baseball. Torn rotator cuff from my 30's. Basically all I can do now is the elliptical and a bike. Oh, and golf. But golf sucks. Mostly because of golfers.

It means nothing to me if they play it. I think most players and black people in general would tell you the same thing. It's like when a band yells out "we love _____" for whatever city they are in that day.

If it really pisses you off, think of it like Greek, Polish, etc. Night at the baseball game. It isn't Nikolai Volkov singing the Russian national anthem and The Iron Sheik spitting when he mentions America.

I'm a little more troubled by the NBA

Yeah. This sort of thing came to me when I was pitching batting practice without a screen to my team one day and a young kid hit a liner back to me that I didn't see. The ball missed my head by maybe an inch and probably went 350 feet over the center field wall. That kid ended up BTW playing ball at the 3A level after that day    I threw the ball that I had in my glove into the ball bucket and walked off never to pitch BP again. Sometimes, you just have to give things up.

I listened to the song. It's a nice song. It has good harmonies. Referring to it as a "national anthem" as if for a nation within a nation is probably kind of incendiary, but Quebec has "Gens du pays" and no one seems to get too upset.

Playing the anthem seems almost like the rider to some movie star's contract, like requiring a full bowl of only green m and m's each day on the set, just to see how ridiculously far the other side is willing to go. Except, I don't think anyone was actually asking the NFL to do this.

I think most of this stuff is a meaningless attempt to placate some players. It's really kind of insulting too. That being said, I'll be parked in front of the television rolling my eyes on Week 1 getting ready for a Bears victory.

of course. like I wrote earlier, goodell is giving his employees their tar tar sauce. It's a good business move.

anything short of some kind of pre game religious desecration at midfield and I'll be watching

All that I know is that the kid hit the shit out of that BP pitch and the ball went way over the center field wall. It also wasn't a home run. It was batting practice.

Yep. I prided myself as a good defensive player while pitching but I never saw that ball. I only heard it.

IF people boycott the games and quit buying their product including subscriptions to the NFL TICKET, is that a good business move? Goodell saw a backlash when he started this banning the televising of the national anthem as well as not punishing those who knelt. I think that the owners are in for a bigger backlash this time around.

Everyone who was going to boycott the NFL over anything like this did so years ago anyways. And tbh fuck those people. Football is literally the least pozzed element of modern American society. Even the military is all rainbow flags and women making decisions now.

If you're even one percent the conservative you purport to be you get nice and comfy every Sunday (or Monday) to watch the deathmatch and forget that the world is collapsing.

And I know there's a female ref in the NFL now, but we forget that refs are literally The Enemy of the People and probably the least likable element of American society in existence. So that doesn't count.

The NFL's revenue continued to grow then and it'll continue to grow now. There aren't enough fans that will stop watching or attending games because Kaepernick doesn't have a job or because they believe the NFL is racist to damage the product. Even if you combined them with the people who are upset Goodell won't run on the field and bludgeon the kneelers or people who can't stomach listening to Lift Every Voice.

Revenue will go down. People are pissed at Goodell and the NFL players and owners. These are people who buy tickets, and merchandise.

Other people will buy the tickets and merchandise. That was true a couple of years ago and it will be true today. There won't be many fans in stadiums this season so demand will be even higher.
